re: Anyone planning to be in DC the week of Jul 4?
Posted by Burnt Reynolds on 6/18/26 at 10:28 am to deuceiswild
Wife and I got tickets to see the fireworks on the Potomac at Mount Vernon. You will like the Capitol tour and Arlington. I can spend damn near the whole day at Arlington. We moved to Richmond, VA about 1 1/2 years ago from DS, La. We go to DC about once a month to hang out, have lunch. We always have a great time there.

Well, I saw the sign and just shook my head, however, my wife told him that he should be ashamed. He then proceeded to tell her to f'ing go home, so i turned around and asked, "what the hell you just say"? he then told me to f off, Well that opened a coonazz dialogue session between him and I. Basically I told him that he wouldn't stand and tell me that to my face, so he kept sitting there. I called him a few choice words and left. On the other hand, He was the only anti-trump person we saw in DC. We saw no protests or any other negativity to current admin.
What would you do?

Scenario: You are visiting the Lincoln Memorial and on the steps is a white middle aged male sitting with a poster sign with Trump picture with Hitler mustache that read, "Say hello to Hitler". What would you do, if anything?

re: Any of you guys ever live in Virginia?
Posted by Burnt Reynolds on 3/20/26 at 6:38 am to cbree88
We moved here (Chesterfield, VA, suburb of Richmond) about a year ago from LP. The State itself is nice, all four seasons, plenty of things to do, but the biggest downfall is the politics. NOVA is the devil along with the newly elected Dem Governor. Over-all, beautiful state, especially South and West of Richmond.

re: How successful do you think your father was at raising you?
Posted by Burnt Reynolds on 1/27/26 at 2:25 pm to W2NOMO
My dad worked his butt off all his life and not one thing to show for it. We never went without though, always had clothes, house, food. My mom and dad divorced in 1975 when i was five. he took custody of us. He passed away at 64 of a heart attack. I've been on a mission to not work myself to death like he did. Thanks to him and the US Army, I will retire in 5 years.

Spent my early childhood days there, right behind the old Hop-n-Shop on Railroad Ave. Move away from city limits and you''ll probably be alright. On a side note, sorry your wife neutered you into moving there. Stay strong, baw

re: Looking to buy my first guitar
Posted by Burnt Reynolds on 1/21/26 at 1:11 pm to Truama_dawg
I picked a Fender Squire strat for 150 to get the feel of one again. Its a good all around guitar to jam on. Since got a Guild hollow Body and just added a Fender Telecaster. There are plenty out there, just get one that feels right for you.
re: How often do you actually sit down and read a book?
Posted by Burnt Reynolds on 1/21/26 at 10:50 am to CBandits82
Once or twice a week. Just finished Stephen Ambrose, D-Day 6 June 1944. Excellent read. I either read before i go to bed for a few minutes or on the weekends when the wife goes to bed. Then I read or watch Adam-12 episodes
