Our class went to Galveston after graduation in 75. Couldn't go because I had a job. Did fly to Dallas a week later and spent a week with my sister and her husband.

No. We did not do large family trips growing up. Dad was Army, so Summer trips were usually back to Mississippi to see family from wherever we were stationed.

But when did “ Senior Trip “ with parents become such a big thing
Probably trying to make sure they get home.
When you see dude jumping off boats willingly into the ocean.
Natalie Holloway going missing.
And other stories.

Went to Cancun, but not with my parents .. I went with my graduating class. I think we had about 50 people go and there were some chaperones that were parents, but I don’t remember whose parents went.
For as drunk as I was all week long, it’s pretty amazing how much I actually remember about that trip

Left for boot camp the next week.

1998. Nope. My parents are divorced and did not get along. I worked all summer until college started. Some people in our class did one of those organized Cancun trips, but I hate traveling with large groups of people so I didn’t go. Too much drama. But our graduation night party was awesome and I enjoyed that.

Yes PCB but my parents didn’t take us - geez

I went on two senior trips. Both in Orange Beach. My mom was chaperone on the first one, but they were not "family trips" otherwise. It was a bunch of friends.
I tagged along on my brother's senior trip 2 years later because, again, my mom was chaperone of that one.

We chaperone my son's and his friends senior trip to the smokey Mountains. The main reason, we went was bc they could not rent the cabin at their age. Had to be 25.
I think that is one of the reasons parents have to go on spring break now. Places won't rent to kids.
In 92, we did not have problems getting a hotel room at PCB. Now it's all condo types

Yes, Ft Walton/Destin. No adults, just a bunch of friends. Had a blast.

We were so poor, I was happy to get a senior supper when I got home.

Our senior classes went on cruises to the Bahamas.

Could not afford. Went to work.
No regrets. Then long time girlfriend, now long term wife…so ‘girls’ were not focus. Funny story, 5 of my buddies went with long time girlfriends and only 3 came back still in long term relationships.
Turns out putting sun tan lotion on ‘strange’ in eye shot of your girlfriend is bad idea. Wisdom.

and for a good reason, helicopter parents clearing the way for kids is probably why we see so much stupitdity from kids getting in trouble in these vacation rentals, when we went on trips in college we planned them, financed them, and were resposible for our actions, not to say their wasn't some stupidity and and a little mayhem at times, but the bottom line was that we were responsible for any damages, any trouble we got into, and I think that was a big part of the growing up process, allso made us quite stealthy

No Sr trip, money was tight, I was working all summer and HS grad was just a step to get to college. My parents wouldnt have allowed it anyway . Too much can go terribly wrong, I won't be sending my kids on a teen only trip. I don't see a problem with families sharing a lasting memory with each other might be one of last times they can all travel together easily.

My Uncle took his Senior trip to Viet Nam…

The Japanese are experiencing massive overtourism. Take him someplace else like New Caledonia or Vientiane or Winnipeg. He won’t know the difference.

this, we had a senior day towards the end of school and we all went to the lake, senior trips weren't big back them because we were in that era and a lot of senior trips were taken in combat boots with an M-16 headed to SE Asia
