Yeah but ask him where he went on his 72-hour R&R pass? Talk about trips that turned you into a man.

Uhh no. Gonna guess this became a thing around the recent era of divorce parties, gender reveals, push gifts, etc.

Not familiar with this phenomenon. Graduated HS 2001.
Me and my buddies drove a van from Lexington to Panama City Beach for Spring Break Senior year.
We had some sort of Senior class trip in school, honestly don't remember what it was.
As for a "senior trip with parents" that definitely was t a thing. This sounds like just going on vacation. Which we did every year. Did I get a special family trip for graduating? No. Would I have wanted one then? Also no.

My parents couldn’t afford to pay for me to go on a senior trip. I worked my summer job to help pay for college they couldn’t afford either.

12 of us went to Cancun…here I learned that foam parties lead to a severely chaffed dick when that grind gets real.

I got to go visit an Uncle who was stationed in Hawaii in 90', my son wanted to go on a cruise, we went on a Norwegian cruise out of N.O., it was fun, my youngest wanted to go on a golf trip with some buddies, I took him and 2 friends to Myrtle Beach, that was a fun trip, don't go there memorial day week, I didn't know it was black bike week, it was interesting to say the least, we stayed at the southern end so it wasn't too bad??

When I graduated, we all went to PCB with no parents. My son just graduated a week ago and we are leaving this week to go to Cancun for him to scuba dive. The kids don't plan trips like we did back in the day, not sure when this changed.
That's ok though. He's less than a year away from his first college spring break which was exponentially better than senior trip anyway.

We’re taking Gee Jr and his buddies to Nashville but staying on the Cumberland River in Mt Juliet. They have their own vehicle and can do whatever they want, within reason. Me and the misses will let the daughter run with us.

When I graduated in South Carolina (1983) we all went to Myrtle Beach. It was called " First Week" at the time in reference to it being 1st week of summer. Every motel was packed with teenagers and we partied our arse off.
Side note there was not one gang fight on the strip nor any shootings. 99%were white people.

Nah, we all went to Cancun on Sr trip. I guess there were a few parents or chaperones but I don't really remember them being there.

Holy Cross had a traditional Senior Cruise with 100 kids and a handful of school chaperones. It was cancelled for years after our class trip. Doors beaten down, furniture thrown overboard, sexual assault accusations…Typically there would be other schools on the ship. On ours there were about 7 teenage girls aboard, and most of those were from the school for the deaf. I guess hormones were raging.
ETA: I’d wager that those girls were never more popular in their lifetime.

Went to Panama City Beach and stayed in a hotel on the beach. No parents.

I didn’t get any senior trip, whether with parents or without parents.
The closest thing I got to a Senior Trip was my daily trips to my shitty minimum wage McJob in the summer after my senior year.
Then I started college at UF 3 months later, so that I could get a job that was better than that summer McJob.

PCB.. most I’ve ever drank in 7 days. No parents. A little cocaine. Many funnels.
RIP Summit, La Vela beach area.
Memories of it feel like a movie that you wouldn’t believe.

We went to Cancun in '92 but we had to have chaperones if under age that were at least 19. We invited kids from '91 to go with us.
Today, most places won't allow under 25 to rent cars or even hotels. So most parents have to go now. It has become a second Senior trip for parents it seems more than the kids.
I would have never dreamed of going on Senior trip drinking in front of my parents. I am glad I didn't encourage my kids to drink with me too.
