I like to stop every 2 hours, get out and stretch my legs, walk around a little bit.Don’t want to get a blood clot in my legs.

Longest single day was the drive to/from Mandeville to Des Moines when I lived in Iowa. That was roughly 15 hours with stops.

After the 2023 Baseball National Championship game. Partied till 1:15 dropped off friends, after shower, got in bed at 2:30. Woke up at 7am, drove back to my house in Cypress, Tx. By myself it was 15 1/2 hours. Omaha to Cypress, Tx in 15 1/2 hours, not bad. I did party at Barrett's Barleycorn Pub & Grill, till about 1:15. I did drink a few Whiskey’s, most were taking shots!

I got 4 1/2 hours sleep, then headed South.

12 is probably what I would plan for as my max, unless my destination was only 14 or something like that.

I’ve driven from Key West to Lafayette with only stops for gas, it was roughly a 19 hour trip.

After 4 hours or 10 repeats of Eagles Hotel
California, my life in a car feels like it goes numb, as does my arse.

I am good for 8-10 hours of numbness. 20 repeat max of Eagles Hotel California.

I was there.

We drove from BR to Omaha in one day on the way up (about 16 hours). We stopped in Fayetteville for the night on the way home.

I’ve made 14.5 hrs drive twice. My family with me, but I did the driving. Two stops for food (one sit down at Cracker Barrel), couple bathroom/coffee stops/gas stops.

I’m 12.5 hours from BR. I’ve done the trip 9-10 times straight thru, after about 8 hours I’m just about done. Much easier going to BR, once I hit state line the shitty roads keep me awake. But that stretch from WF to Amarillo really sucks. Thankfully I have a very good friend in Gainesville, which is almost halfway point. I usually stop there either coming or going. I know I could never be a trucker.

Alone I can go all day. Wife and kids with me, maybe 4-5 hours. Every single road trip we take on I65 she complains about the rough driving. I always respond with I’m just behind the wheel, I didn’t pave the interstate. Then offer to ride shotgun and let her take the driving. Funny how my boys never complain on a road trip about the rough roads. Princess and the pea for sure.

Driving I cap out at 16 hours or so. And that’s a brutal day. Riding? Much, much shorter.

Wife in truck with me turns my 12.5 hour drive into 14.5. She reads a little, dozes off and wakes up needing to pee. Doesn’t complain thankfully, but JFC she has the bladder of a mouse.

We did 13-14 a couple of times. The VW Atlas is GREAT on long road trips- plenty of room in the front and middle rows, and lots of cargo space. Small gas tank and below average MPG (18 gal, 16-17 mpg) makes it not as desirable around town, though.

Is the OP my wife? What a diva!

The man answer is sun up to sun down.
Any longer, you fly.

You fly to Seattle, San Diego, New York, Boston.
You drive to Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, and yes, Orlando.

Driving 7-11 hours away from here is worth saving yourself from the a**-raping you experience at the airport and the trash that they now allow on planes. Plus you control the vehicle.

Lately I’ve considered a drive to Chicago.

I can go over 12. But I need to stop and stretch my legs and unkink my back every 3-4 hours or so. Nothing major. Just a 5-10 min stretch.

10 hours and that's because I'm old. I could do 15+, sometimes over 24 straight with no other driver, in my younger years. My wife maxes out at about 8 hrs. Can't stand a 2 hr flight though.

Anything over 5 hours I’m flying. I fricking hate road trips

Anything under 20 or not seperated by an ocean, Im driving. I freaking hate airports, airport parking, airplanes, TSA, tiny seats, sardine cramped plane cabins, idiots who stuff 3 carryons in the bin, smelly bodies, crying babies, waiting 10 mins in a hot cabin to deboarded, delayed flights, lost luggage, etc. I experience none of this when Im driving.

Maybe 3 hours for personal trips. Maybe 30 minutes for work. If I have to travel for work then I either take a train or fly, otherwise I zoom into the meeting.
