Probably OJ getting off. I don’t remember too much about it, but I do remember my mom and grandparents going back and forth in my childhood den absolutely enraged about it.

I still watch replays in awe of it. I remember my dad and I looking up at the moon in the night sky and thinking how amazing it was that human beings were actually on that thing.

The big California earthquake in the late 1980s. Or maybe early 90s, something like that. The one where the interstate collapsed.

I have a pretty clear memory of Elvis dying. I would've been four.
We set in the car in the driveway and mom finished listening to the radio before she killed the car. It seemed like a big deal to her

I was 6 during the 1976 Presidential race so I remember Ford and Carter running but it didn't register.

I do remember the Iran Hostage Crisis though.

As a kid, probably the first news thing that registered with me as a big deal was Elvis dying.

Either the girl who got stuck down the well or the Iraqi invasion. Not sure which happened first.

News story that made me want to watch ABC nightly news was Iran Hostage Crisis. I found it fascinating for some reason. I didn't understand it, but I watched the news just for the updates.
