Title says it, what’s the first major news story you remember as a child?
Mine is oddly Timothy McVeigh’s execution in June of 2001. I was home sick from school that day. And obviously 9/11 is just a few months later.

Probably the Gulf War. Was pretty young and really the only memory I have is the night vision shots they had on the news. Little me thought it looked so cool watching all the green stuff flying across the screen. Looking back, definitely not so cool.
