Exactly...lots of successful people do not have or need a degree...but you would think someone who is a career politician would get piece of paper from somewhere since education is normally an important topic with the voters

Politics is a professional career? Seems like it started out as a civil service and then went straight to popularity contests that was primed to get even worse with social media.

My point is a college degree is the bare minimum for most professional careers. Expecting a congressman to have a college degree isn't an unreasonable standard.

Whether one views politics as a "profession" or not is debatable.

I agree jumping around between three colleges and never finishing raises some questions about dedication, etc. But a degree shouldn't be a prerequisite. We need farmers, tradesmen, small business owners in Congress.

As you mentioned, a college degree primarily proves you have the determination to complete something that only 25% of the US population has completed.

I won’t pretend my undergrad degree was some earth shattering feat, but I do know how difficult it was to complete in its entirety.

Idgaf what your degree is in, the fact that you have one tells me a lot about you.

Yet he was one of the best members of Congress we've ever had. He would likely still be there if Jeff hadn't fricked him over with redistricting because he refused to follow the GOP leadership crowd and anoint Jeff as godking before the election.

Those were my words moron. It’s called vocabulary and the word nexus simply means connection in it’s simplest form

Now, are you claiming Garrett is some type of savant that the world would have been deprived of his gifts in "public service" had he stayed on to finish his degree?

Your words not mine… I simply gave the likely and known answer. You could add that his family background added in this path and that’s a fair representation of the truth .. college isn’t the only path. Checking a list of ultra successful people without one proves this reality

Personal experience, pussy and booze. Not going to class because you are getting laid, and not studying because partying.

What’s wrong with trying to make it as a musician first?

Why don’t you like him?

11k a year after taxes isn’t cheap. Add another kid or 2 and you are writing 25K in checks a year. That’s why people feel like they are getting a break if their kids live at home and go to a local college.

Catholic is more than 11k now.

Who cares about a college degree except for maybe 4-5 job fields and even that is because of graduate school not really college itself.

I have a college degree in Information Technology in 1994.

There is absolutely nothing that degree taught me I have used since IP was invented

Like Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Michael Dell, and Rush Limbaugh, he will likely not amount to much.

How do your parents spend all that money at Catholic and you bounce around 3 colleges and still don't graduate?

I’m sure his parents are so disappointed how he turned out.

GG is going to start coming at JL hard in Feb-March. Going to paint you as contributing to traffic problems and selling Louisiana jobs and data out to H1B visa farms.

Perfectly said. I was hoping that society was getting past this idea that a college degree confers credibility .
