To live out my life the way I want to live it, and leave this place just a little better than I found it when I am done.

I’ve been thinking of volunteering a little bit of time at the children’s hospital. I don’t think I necessarily need perspective, but you’re right about trying to do some acts of service.

To suffer as a Razorback fan.
Like Sisyphus rolling the stone up a hill for all eternity with it getting knocked back down to the bottom whenever he happened to get near the top.

I have always considered my life's purpose to be to prepare my 2 children to live in this world, and carry on admirably once their parents are gone.

It's better to give than receive

I think of this often
After a long unemployment streak, I have lost my spark
Now that I’m back working, I see my friends and they’re living their lives and having kids and I feel stuck in sand. It’s depression to think about

I mean “perspective” from a sense of how fortunate I truly am compared to a sick kid.
Broad perspective? Sure.

I struggle with this a good bit. What keeps me going is my wife and kids. After some initial stupidity right out of college, I met the correct girl, settled down, and tried to make something of it. I finally settled into work got on it, saving and working and saving and working. Have two wonderful daughters that I’ve put through private school and college. Second one is starting graduate school next week and we have enough money to cover it also. Kept my wife happy and in her houses with the little grocery store right around the corner…. and her work not very far from those. I am blessed beyond measure.
Unfortunately, lost my longtime job last year during a private equity takeover/power grab. No one needs the old guy who knows everything causing unrest. Now I’m trying something different and it’s OK but doesn’t light my fire. I’m getting restless and I’m contemplating moving to a new state a new area and start over with a small lifestyle. That way I can make it another eight years until I retire.
But yeah, it sucks to be a restless ship sometimes.

goddammit
If you're this difficult to communicate with in real life that may be why you're unhappy because you're making everyone around you miserable
