This. I'm not an overly religious person but at baseline it's a great guide on living life to be a good person.

As a husband and father, my goal is to leave this place better than I found it. Provide for my wife and marriage more than she knew before (her parents). Provide for my children more than I ever had, teach all of them to do the same.

I don't care if I leave this place broken, tired, and used up. As long as I do the above, I did my job.

Mark Twain said it best. “The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why”.

Something along this great philosopher's stance.

First thing that came to mind.

My serious answer is to just enjoy life. Try to experience and see things, try to know and befriend as many people as possible and leave a lasting positive impression. Try to honor God and help others. Build a successful business. Be a man worth admiring. You get one chance at life, don’t blow it and settle for less. Pursue your dreams, take risks, learn and grow. Don’t stress over things that don’t matter, don’t burn bridges with anyone.

1. Love the Lord
2. Lead, protect, and provide for my wife and children and teach them to love the Lord

In the end, nothing else really matters

My son is my purpose. To raise him to be a great man and leave no doubt I loved him with all my heart every single day

I think making good friends (for me in med school) and having a genuine healthy interest in someone else’s life other than your own is what gave me purpose. Down the road I want to continue to build that connection with a wife and kids. When I realized it’s less about me and instead what I can do for someone else, that’s when I found purpose. And I plan to get back to church regularly, but I think it has to be a decision one chooses to do when they’re ready and not forced
