Morning everybody
I said it earlier this year but Sheerin reminds me of Art Cantrelle. Crazy act. Don’t F with me.
Great job by Stanny holding that to a single.
You’re right. Drinking
Let’s walk the first F’ing batter of the game.

Is it an optical illusion or do they seem to get bigger as the numbers get higher?

Invariably, there was some bleed under some of the masking tape,

Tip I learned for this is after you apply the mask, brush on a thin coat of the color that is masked along the edge of the tape and allow it to dry. This will seal the edge from bleed through and usually results in perfect lines.

It looks great!

I’m reading An Army at Dawn by Rick Atkinson right now so especially appreciate this North African campaign subject!

They weren’t alive to see Skip’s last great team in 2000.

I was and I remember a team that lost their first mid-week game of the year to McNeese, got swept by Houston in week 3 at the Box, and lost 2 of 3 in the SEC opener to then putrid UGA team for a 13 - 8 start to the season. This was on the heels of getting run out of the park in the '99 Super Regional at Bama. I remember radio callers melting down that "the game has passed Skip by and it's time to hang up the cleats". Memory among many today is Skip never lost a game after 1991.

Now granted, that 2000 team turned the corner and we all know how it ended but my point is all programs face rough times, many panic and later wind up looking foolish.

Time will tell with Jay but I'm confident he will get us back on track. As others have pointed out, the ability to build and sustain a roster has never been harder than in the NIL/Portal era.

17:00 — Hour and a half nap/siesta, a habit acquired during his time in Cuba.

His naps were legendary. My favorite line from him was “there can be no half measures. You must undress completely and get under the covers”.

In the excellent movie Darkest Hour they highlight this when King George asked him for a weekly meeting and he replies “I’m normally napping at that time”.

The king replies “is that allowed in your post”.

Churchill replies “I don’t know if it’s allowed but it is necessary”.
Not a lot. Think he’s an overall athlete that is probably playing at a competition level where he’s one of the best players on the field. Looks promising but hard to project how it translates to high level D1 after missing his Sr HS year with injury and playing Juco now. Definitely seems worth the look.

We’ve also been looking at the kid from Dutchtown at Jones college. Catches, plays third, and shortstop.

Lach deserved better than he got. Shoulda had a DP if not for the shift then got squeezed out of called 3rd strike.
What’s up with the guy in the purple tie behind the speaker? Looks like he’s either crapping his pants or about to cry.

Maybe he’s about to cry BECAUSE he crapped his pants.
I posted this on another thread that this shows 2 things…

1) the impact of the portal timing for teams that make the CWS finals

2) how quickly a bad baseball season can be turned around.

Some recent history...

Team / Champ Season / Following Year Record
MSU 2021 26 - 30 (9 - 21 SEC)
Ole Miss 2022 25 - 29 (6 - 24 SEC)
LSU 2023 43 - 13 (13 - 17 SEC)
Tenn 2024 46 - 19 (16 - 14 SEC)
* A&M 2024 runner up 30 - 26 (11 - 19 SEC)

There is definitely a trend here following a deep CWS run in the portal age. The best SEC record in the year following a title was 16-14.
