Most Saturdays are spent with kids at ballparks. I'd rather that than a wedding but that's just me

They suck if you're a college football fan since many get wed on a Saturday and that is when the brunt of college games are played.

I've had 2 friends daughters get married when LSU has played Bama and the amount of guys in the church with the game on their phones was amazing.

If you are dumb enough to even think about getting married during football season, you definitely deserve to have people not show up or watch games during the reception and for those idiots that try and pull this shite once it is deer or duck season, you literally have no scene control. Seriously, don’t people know you get married in June?

Period.

If it’s conflicting with a big LSU game or deer hunting I won’t go.

That being said, I will certainly skip LSU vs Nichols for a wedding. So it’s not one size fits all.

Why not schedule weddings on thanksgiving day?

I don’t know about you, but I personally look forward to Saturdays in the fall as a time that I get together with my family and friends to enjoy good fellowship and food. Yes, it centers around “a football game” and maybe that’s silly, but it’s our tradition and important to us.

I would offer that, in the South particularly, a lot of other folks have a similar tradition. While it’s not as widespread as Thanksgiving,
which is almost universal, it’s certainly known ahead of time that selecting a fall date will cause conflicts.

I got married during the third saturday in october in Tennessee.

We ended up having a small wedding in the Smokies for a nice fall sunset when the leaves were full of color. Everyone that showed up had a good time and a vacation in the mountains during the best time of year. The people we didn't really want there had an excuse to not come, which was great for us because we didn't have to pay extra for them.

Fall is both me and my wife's favorite time of year to be in the mountains. Wouldn't change it for some people we really didn't care about being at the wedding. Alabama won, LSU lost that day as well, to Georgia I think. I think we had a few Louisiana people checking on the game, Tennessee wasn't that good so not many cared about that one.

I'd go to a wedding over most football games, maybe if it was a championship game I could attend would be the only way it would stop me now. Especially with smart phones to be able to watch the game from anywhere.

Maybe people like us choose fall days because we know the obnoxious family members way too into sports won't come.

Amen. It’s not always about the actual game. It’s about the family tradition and time spent together.

I missed the ‘22 bama game bc my cousin decided to get married that weekend. Missed prob the greatest game in tiger stadium history (at least in my lifetime).

What’s even worse was she was supposed to have the wedding the previous weekend but changed it 4 months before.

Imagine basing important life events around watching college kids(most of which hate you) play a game.

October marriage here. Tried to schedule it for a less exciting Ole Miss weekend and certainly an away game

I’d hate the thought of a wedding anniversary taking place during college football season every year. I got married the 2nd week of December so that it always falls the week after the SEC game.
