This is a big debate on Twitter right now. Have you had to make this choice before? If so, what did you end up doing?

This should be a punishable crime.

Here’s my take as an old guy who got married 23 years ago (in a full church wedding/hotel reception in July) and wishes we’d gotten married on the beach in front of four people.

Get married whenever you want. Just don’t worry about inviting anyone. Everyone will be happier.

quote:

@CFBNerds

And before you ask, my wife feels exactly the same way I do about our wedding. It was fun. Beach would have been more fun, and we wouldn’t have spent years paying it off.

quote:

The wedding is more about the guests than about you.

Picking a date is within your discretion and knowingly asking people to abandon the thing they're ultra passionate about and only get a handful of Saturdays a year to enjoy it is being selfish

1. Fall is the nicest time of year to have a wedding in many places
2. The wedding is for the couple, they can schedule their wedding when they want + if you’d rather watch football than go to their wedding you’re probably not actually that close to the couple so just don’t go?

Getting Married on a College Football Saturday Is Selfish and Obnoxious

I see that “Fall Wedding Twitter” is out in full force today.

Weddings in the fall are fine. No biggie either way. I’ve had some great college football experiences that coincide with fall weddings.

Sad that sportsball fanatics are more concerned with teenagers throwing a ball around than holy matrimony

There’s really no difference between them and Disney adults

My wife and I got married in a courthouse but our parents threw us a reception later in the year. LSU was playing Ole Miss that day. We had TVs set up in the venue for it.

I was more salty about missing a weekend of deer hunting. It ended up being a good time, though. We are at the age to where extended family only really gets together for weddings or funerals. Glad we got together for a happy event. Some things are more important than football and hunting.

if either of my sons get married during an LSU game, I'm skipping the wedding.

<---was married in October

We wanted an outside wedding and couldn't do it in the spring.

Didn't really care if someone missed my wedding because they wanted to watch football

This was a big deal pre NIL and CFB not being ruined. Now not so much

One of my best friends (the one not that into football) got married on a Saturday night of LSU/Ole Miss.

Bride's uncle was a former player, and his wife was a former Miss LSU, homecoming queen, or whatever. Their daughter was a bridesmaid who also happened to be a former Tiger Cheerleader who was at that time a cheer coach at LSU.

While we walked down the aisle I showed her my LSU Lapel pin and told her she was in good hands, smoke show that she was.

And we proceeded to bad mouth the unhappy couple all night.

They're divorced now. Deserved it.

You can get married in a courthouse any time. I get 12 college football Saturdays. If you schedule your wedding on one of those 12 Saturdays that means you don’t care if I am present at your wedding. If you don’t care if I am present at your wedding then that means I don’t need to be there and probably don’t want to be there either.

I love these threads. It's like people wake up in a brand new world every year.

Go to the wedding and not let sports dictate my schedule.

Most of these guys probably did not even play ball.

Sad.

Sad to see people haven’t realized how insignificant college football is

Record the game - turn my phone off.

Enjoy the wedding and enjoy the game later.

i am against fall weddings but ive never skipped a wedding and ive been to plenty on fall saturdays, including of those who consider themselves huge cfb fans. i had mine in the summer very much on purpose.

i dont think anyone missed any of those weddings because of cfb, but that was all people talked about the whole time. which is kinda fun. but also it was fun to have it in the summer and not have anyone worried about any of that and just enjoy the night.

I can't imagine being this much of a loser

If you'd rather watch a football game than witness a marriage between two people that you care about you are probably a piece of shite.

I always said I'd never have a football season wedding, but at least it's the south Alabama game
