10 years ago I would have said it was dumb to plan your wedding during football season and to not do it

Now I think "god imagine caring that much. Who cares"

I only have a handful of close friends and “marriage-age” family. I can’t imagine missing one of their weddings over a football game, but to each his own.

I got married 11 years ago on a Saturday - it was earlier in the day, and we rented out a Conf room and had TV's after for the reception with football games on - seemed a fair compromise

I got married on a bye week in 03

I'll be missing the UCLA game this year for a wedding

Over time, my priorities have become more clear

Is he still your buddy?

If so, it was worth it.

I'll take any excuse to skip a wedding.

WTF? There's the same thread on the Rant. I'll say what I said there;

Weddings shouldn't even be a thing. People that want to get married should just elope and leave everyone else out of it.

Has happened twice:

Sister got married during football season and had a TV on during the reception because Wisconsin was playing.

Wife's cousin is getting married 8/31 this year. Going because we are really close to her and her husband and I have no issues missing week 1 of CFB.

For weddings, I have no issues going during football season if its going to be fun and/or we're close to the couple. People who are friends/kids of distant family members that have dry weddings can GTFO during anytime of the year.

That might be the dumbest thing I have ever read on TigerDroppings.

Seriously, in 20 years I cannot recall reading anything more stupid than that.

I remember seeing a video of a Georgia couple on vacation in Italy, and the husband was watching a Georgia game on his iPad at the table in a restaurant.

That guy and people who complain about fall weddings are both small minded losers.

10 years ago, I would be one of those Neanderthals bitching.

Now, football is as important as a cloudy day. Especially college football.

My sister got married at the chapel on campus on gameday and everyone went to the game afterwards.

My cousin got married during the Florida/LSU show game. My Uncle watched the whole thing on his phone during the reception. Someone asked him about it and he told them in a somewhat jokingly way that he was paying for the wedding so he could do whatever he wants.

I’ll go to a family or friends wedding during the season. What I won’t do is go to like a wedding for some random acquaintance or someone I don’t know like the wife’s coworker’s kid’s wedding.

I had a friend get married on Michigan/Michigan State weekend, which is kind of a no-no in this state. I decided I would attend the wedding if I was standing up in it. So, what does he do? He asks me to read at the ceremony, but I wasn't technically standing up in it. I made the right decision to go, Michigan lost, anyway (I think Drew Henson started and Brady almost rallied them back).

Right, maybe when I was a young idiot in my 20's I'd feel that way, but if you're 30+ years old and still prioritize football over important events for your friends/family, you are a loser.

I have some surprising news for you. Nobody wants to attend your dumbass wedding. Not even your own dad wants to attend your wedding.
