Then back to the first part of my quote . . . I have no idea. I was just speculating off of how they address phones at the school my kids attend.

I assume they are expecting parent buy-in, the consequences are stiff enough that I’m sure no parent wants their kid caught breaking the rule.

No. Cathedral Carmel’s ban is not 24/7

Yes. I do have a better idea which follows governing principles.

They’re not a public school, attendance there is voluntary

It is not in effect away from school. Not according to an Administrator I personally spoke with. It is also not a rule set by the Diocese.

Hmmmmm...well then maybe the Parent Student Handbook they just sent out last week for the coming year was wrong.

quote:

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY Based on our philosophy that Cathedral-Carmel School students are to live their lives as Christ-centered students, we have established the following social media policy. No student enrolled at Cathedral-Carmel school shall host an account or page (whether in his/her true name of an alias) on any social media site.
1. A social media site is one that has individual user profiles, user-generated content, networking capability (can connect with others or groups), and interactivity (can comment, like, share or direct message).
2.Social media accounts prohibited include but are not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, Snapchat, TikTok, CapCut, YouTube, Twitch, and any social media platform or app Cathedral- Carmel Catholic School sees fit to include in the future.
3. The restriction against social media accounts includes summers, holidays, nights and weekends, beginning in August 2026.

What does this mean to you:

I’ve never seen someone be so adamant about something they are clearly wrong about

It’s a private school with a code of conduct and policies they agree to.

What’s the cause of action supposed to be?

This is TD so it happens more than someone being man enough to come back and say they were wrong. If PARENTS at the school are saying the policy is X then maybe trust them. Considering they just sent out the 26-27 Handbook and this was obviously a major change from the general guidelines that have been out the past few years encouraging parents to actually parent.

I applaud the school attempting to help these kids.

It’s a private school. Follow their rules or gtfo.

I wonder if that administrator meant "won't be enforced away from school".

They even sent out a specific email regarding the policy on May 6th.

But, this guy talked to someone who knows

ETA: he also thought the policy came out this week

I can’t speak for VC, but there is a waiting list to get into CCS.

Instagram already "requires" the user to be at least 13 years old, which would cover 90% of CCS students.

Policy seems more towards parental involvement.

Not really sure why anyone would have a problem with this.

Possibly. I wish them luck monitoring people in the privacy of their homes.

Wrong. The VC policy is recent. I never stated CC policy was released this week.
