May be an underrated get.
Offers from Michigan, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, etc. out of St Aug

Curious what happened with his recruitment. Injury? Just didn't progress? Grades?

Had P4 offers, committed to Tulane, signed with UAB, transferred to McNeese.
Seems more likely that he's done with football than coming back to LSU.

Tiger Fans on Dylan Raiola

6'3" 230, mobile but not a runner

2025 stats: 181/250 (72.4%), 2,000 yards, 18TDs, 6INT, 158.6 passer rating.

tRant: Hard pass, he's weird.

They just can't "enter" the portal after it closes. But now the portal straight up doesnt matter when players will just un-enroll at one school and enroll in another. Only timing issue there will be when each individual schools enrollment period closes I would imagine.

Whatever you thought you knew about how transfers, portal, commitments, etc. work....buckle up

Good point, so a player can unenroll after the Spring 2026 semester (assuming in good academic standing/progress) and re-enroll at a new school no issue. I guess the problem might be on the recruiting side of things. Are schools "allowed" to recruit these guys that unenroll? Or is this one of those "agent to agent" things?
Most of their major contributors are seniors + Lacy (we all know about that). Getting Deuce Alexander to stay was a big win for them. But I can see some of the young talent hitting the portal. Namely Cunningham and Watkins.

Big test for them will also be keeping the offensive line intact (though them retaining the o-line coach should help there).

Yep. To be fair, I’ve never seen Kiffin with a good defense.

Baker will change that

Kiffin/Ole Miss had/bought a Top 5 defense in 2024. They also had a top 10 offense. Honestly Kiffin should get some flak not making a deep playoff run with that roster. Instead they ended the season in the Tax Slayer Bowl after losses to Kentucky, LSU, and Florida by a combined 13 points.

Can they put incentives in the contracts like they do with coaches?

I think they decided that incentives = pay for play.
If he hadn't called those 2 timeouts then Miami probably settles for the field goal with time running down.
From a financial and practical standpoint; it's better for LSU if Miami wins. LSU gets all it's coaches back on campus, and LSU doesn't have to pay out more in bonuses to the coaches we hired.

Mix in some animal fat (bacon fat, tallow, etc.) with the dry food and he'll probably eat it up.

After looking at reviews and ingredient lists, we've been buying the Costco brand of dogfood for years. No issues.
Drifter.

Played football, sang in choir, math club, ate lunch with the not quite stoners.

And then lacy pulls a Demond Williams and joins the good guys in BR

Nah, spend that $2.8 million in the trenches. (Rumor was that LSU was offering $2.5 million and Ole Miss matched and beat by $300k).
Ole Miss going to have to throw the bank at Knight or Lagway if they want a shot next year.

As of now they'll have AJ Maddox, Maealiuaki Smith, and Rees Wise at QB next year.

Impossible to quantify. Too many variables

From what I've been reading about it. (Not much). Assigning a value to hard to quantify variables is the main point of liquidized damages sections. But it also seems like the amount is supposed to be reasonable and defined. Not determined at the discretion of one party and up to the entire amount.

Two key items in Demond Williams’ signed Washington contract as he attempts to enter the portal and transfer. Washington continues to pursue legal options to enforce the contract, per ESPN sources.
1) The buyout in the contact reads the cost of the buyout is in the “sole discretion” of Washington.

2) The contract specifically states that “the institution is not obligated to enter the Student-Athlete into the transfer portal or otherwise assist or facilitate the Student-Athlete’s transfer to another college or university.”

Washington/B10 isn't winning this one. At least not anytime soon. Sign the guy.

The only person with potential to get screwed here is Williams. LSU will have a backup plan. Washington is going to look like the villain when he isn't able to play (potentially).

I don't think the NIL dispute in any way will affect his eligibility.
quote:

If this is an excerpt from the actual contract, it looks like the agreement is that the player and/or transfer school would be responsible to pay liquidated damages of the prorated amount of the agreement. In this case, if no payment had yet been made, that would be the entire amount. This is the clawback OP referred to, and it would be up to the courts to determine if this could be enforced.

Gotcha. So same situation as the Mizzou player who UGA is suing (he's in the portal again).

Play the player, let the courts settle the contract dispute. The impression I got from the Damon Wilson case is that if a judge decides that the full payback amount is punitive and not damages then the previous school is out of luck.

According to the trusty Google AI:

Key Aspects of Liquidated Damages:
Purpose: To provide a clear, predetermined remedy for breach, saving time and costs of litigation, and to encourage timely performance.

When Used: When actual damages from a breach would be uncertain or hard to prove, such as missed deadlines or loss of reputation.

Enforceability: Courts enforce them if they meet strict criteria:
Damages were difficult to estimate at contract formation.
The amount is a reasonable forecast of anticipated loss, not punitive.
There was an intent to compensate, not punish.

What They Are Not: They are not penalties; a clause set at an unreasonably high amount is void.
Still have to be a student to play. You can't enroll mid-semester.
Leavitt doesn't look too happy or engaged. Must have just gotten the info that Williams is re-entering the portal and LSU is interested.

They should enforce the contract. They should keep him out of CFB if they can. Make an example. And every school should do the same if it happens to them.

They can't keep him from playing as he's not an employee. I think the best case they have is suing for damages.
