That is LITERALLY my point.
Seems like a point that anyone with a brain could figure out.
They don’t give a shite if you have a social media account that no one will ever know about. They want to keep kids off of Facebook, IG, Snapchat, etc…

That is not their point. See previous post. They are protecting their liability. This is also not a rule from the diocese like some people believe. Another school implemented this rule, however, it is only DURING SCHOOL HOURS.

I would expect that this will be quietly walked back, or just not enforced at all though.
In a normal world it would be applauded by parents

There is no way they are trying to keep all kids off social media. That is not possible. They are trying to limit liability and give themselves written rules to enforce punishment. Every private school requires both parents and students to sign behavioral handbooks at the beginning of the school year.

Imagine a world where you think this is the only reason why people would not like this.

My kid goes to another school in the diocese that implemented this rule a month ago and it is the same as this VC rule, which is a social media ban 24/7, weekends, Summer, etc…

What’s another reason? “They can’t tell my kid what to do while they aren’t at school!!”?

No. I know exactly what social media my kid is on. Two are used for one specific purpose. There isn't posting, socializing, etc on either. There are two other profiles, which aren't listed, but would fall under social media if they were really strict.
I completely understand, and agree, with almost all of their reasoning for being cautious about social media. But we have it under control. Don't really need a school to dictate outside of school. If they decide to be super strict with this somehow, and there is issues with my kid, then I will be furious. But like I said earlier, this probably will fade away or will not at all be enforced.

Cathedral carmel in lafayette just did this too.
The rules are surprisingly strict as frick - which i appreciate

Another school released their details today. It’s not intrusive to homes. It’s not intrusive to holidays and summer time. It is AT SCHOOL ONLY. As it should be.
This is NOT the diocese promoting this.

No. Their rules are for school only.

You have no idea.
Does your kid attend the school? Did you receive the policy last month?

Wonder if this is to combat cyber bullying
Posted on 6/4/26 at 8:27 pm to Epic Cajun
I am a parent of a sister school who has received this. Yes. I have a VERY good idea.
Posted on 6/4/26 at 8:30 pm to T_don
TG is not included. I guess that's a good thing?
Posted on 6/4/26 at 8:38 pm to T_don
Parent Controlled Snapchat Account.

Do you think you have a better idea than someone who personally received the policy from the school?
ETA: the Cathedral Carmel social media ban is 24/7, including weekends, holidays, and Summer.

I don’t see how they would be able to govern this. Any of those kids could make an Oweo2 TD handle and no one would know. Social media is a broad term though. If they are just talking about kids not having a facebook/instagram (social media where their face and name are public), that’s a different story. But then again, a parent letting their 4th grader have a Facebook is shite parenting.
I have no idea their plan but I wouldn't be surprised if its as simple as phone goes off in class and they confiscate the phone and go through it. If they see the apps then they will address accordingly. Also kids post stupid stuff and it makes its way back to admin. Having the policy in place gives them the opportunity to address stupid behavior after the fact.

The school already has a cell phone ban

Then back to the first part of my quote . . . I have no idea. I was just speculating off of how they address phones at the school my kids attend.
