Put a sprinkler on your roof during peak sun hours.

The house typically doesn’t make it to 78° before it kicks back on at 6pm. I just set it that high so it won’t come on and pre-cool the house to 70° until 3p.

I cant imagine paying a $600 power bill If your power bill is that much, something is extremely wrong imo.

There are none. Maybe large fans.

Get a couple of dehumidifiers. I have one that pulls out 5-10 gal per day.

Spend money to make your home more energy-efficient and hope that you can break even at some point in the future.

One of the first things to look at after purchasing a home.

The house I purchased only had 1” of old yellow fiberglass insulation in the attic!

I sealed the joists with expanding foam, and installed a total R60 rating of fiberglass rolls, then had cellulose blown into the space between the walls of my house.

HUGE difference.

Have Entergy as your provider.

You lose power so often, it cuts down on your bills.

You can try something like this: AC Shade
Ive often wanted to make something like this using black shade cloth and rod. What do you use?

Use of fans can allow you to set the thermostat higher.

Lower the humidity. Get a dehumidiier. Our house is a pier and beam and we remove 6 to 8 gallons of water a day. Cooling dry air is MUCH more efficient than cooling wet air. Our AC usage was literally cut in half when we started using one. With lower humidity, the house even feels cooler at higher temps.

My attic pull-down stairs is in the garage. I have a 16" fan ($30) and built a 1x4 rack that rests over the stair door access hole/opening, crack the garage door 6-12" and blow air into the attic. 2 Whirly-birds on the roof peak. Drops my attic temps 10 degrees - gotta help.

Bonus TIP, I had a Micro-Air Easy Start Flex compressor soft start installed last week. Dropped starting amps on my 4-ton condensing unit from 38 amps to 23 and live current is 10 amps. Long live my 2021 compressor.

I saw this product in a YouTube video some time back. I am unsure of ordering as my unit is naturally shaded and doesn't get direct sun. Sorry.

Teach your body to acclimate to the heat better - you live is South Louisiana - it will take time, but your body will slowly adjust to where you don't have to put your AC in the 60's.

Get fans, take the heavy covers off the bed, sleep with a very light cover or just a sheet, sleep nude or in your draws.

Yes. Without investment in energy efficiency, this is the way. And keep exterior doors closed, obviously. My kids and wife have a hard time with that one.
