Judge Upholds Missouri DT Sterling Webb's Eligibility For 2026 Season

A Missouri judge ruled Wednesday that defensive tackle Sterling Webb can remain eligible for the 2026 season, denying the NCAA's request to dissolve a temporary restraining order.

Webb had previously exhausted his college eligibility, but filed a lawsuit after the NCAA adopted its new "five-for-five" rule in June, which allows athletes to compete in five seasons over a five-year period.

The NCAA declined to apply the new rule retroactively to players like Webb, prompting his lawsuit.

Wednesday's ruling allows Webb to continue practicing and playing for Missouri while the case moves forward.

Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz learned about the ruling during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday.

“So, it looks like we're ready to go,” Drinkwitz said. “We wait for tweets from judges, man. What a system we've got here.”
