What's AI gonna do when we unplug it?

AI is the new global warming.

Yep
Even for the potential downside, the dilemma is that many people believe AI will be the key to curing diseases. AI already solved a very old math equation last week that was considered impossible. What other doors can it open to advance humanity?
In fact, there is a rumor floating around that Anthropic has discovered a non-invasive treatment to totally eradicate all cancers in humans, dogs and cats with a 100% success rate. The rumor also says China is close to the same thing so Anthropic is spending a bunch of compute to finalize their proof.
Imagine how cheap healthcare is if AI solves cancer.

Ok, I'll play. How is AI going to kill all humans in 10 years?

James Cameron made a documentary about it

At least we all get wrecked together.

I don't love the idea of the military relying on it. Feel like it will trigger a nuke exchange.

The human body generates more bioelectricity than a 120-volt battery. And over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. That combined with a form of fusion will give them all the power they need.

Some poster last week speculated that they'll trickle out advanced tech that's been in the can for years and blame it on AI as cover.

I was a non-believer for years after using early models that could barely beat a Google search.
That's not the case now. The only limitations on what it can do are the guardrails put in place by Anthropic and OpenAI. As the tweet in the OP says, they're effectively in a nuclear arms race with no one stopping them.

Anyway time to get back to work building this datacenter.

Always amazed folks saw these movies, and yet it did not sink in as we approach the future from the past & present.

Anybody that has actually dealt with AI can tell you that AI is not some self-thinking, autonomous being. It does what it is programmed to do. The more I've used AI, the less concerned I am about AI replacing humans.
