Boys 18 and 20. Wife and I bring them to the beach. I miss the days of old....sand castles, crabbing, etc. Today, we worry about the girl friends, college starting, etc.

They worry about you just as much if you're 37 and building sand castles, chasing crabs, and drinking beer on the beach all day.

You just can't win sometimes.

Hey, hear you.

I have one in that zone.

If helps, we just roll on to the next thing with them. But you are not wrong. Catching crabs on beach at night and building sand castles are the good stuff. But so are the next things with them. Ride the wave!

I have two girls the same age. The oldest is already back at school and the youngest moves next week. It is just so bittersweet. I keep saying I would love to have one more day when they were 4 and 6 just so I could appreciate it in a way that I couldn't at the time.

My husband has stage IV pancreatic cancer so it just feels particularly hard right now.

The days are long but the years are short.

Probably the most true statement I’ve ever heard describing parenting.

My sons are 38 and 40. Two grandsons and two granddaughters, and I love my daughters in law, I’m at my absolute happiest when we’re all under the same roof. When you look back at your life, raising kids seems to represent such a small period-but it’s everything.
