Neither of us like or trust our families to loan or give them money.
That is just depressing.

My in-laws "retired" with an almost paid off house and $1700 a month in social security. They could have had a comfortable retirement, but wasted every dime they got with very little to show for and would never listen to advice. It was frustrating to watch.
Asks the man complaining about women.
Just watching that video makes my knees weak. I watched the documentary of him climbing El Capitan. It is fascinating to me and so freaking scary.
I remember that so well. I was about the same age as her, and I was so sad when they announced she died.
What's right with liberals?

Jovan musk

Maybe I merged Jovan musk with Elan perfume.

I swear, I remember there being a cologne with a similar name when I was a kid so I was really confused for a long time.

Does anyone else remember Elan perfumes or am I just crazy?

Maybe she should learn not to drive her vehicle toward a loaded gun.
Greg Locke left his wife for his church secretary so I don't think he is a moral compass for anyone.

Due to my personal convictions, I couldn't vote Democrat, and I find most leaders of the Democratic party to be reprehensible. That being said, no political party is going to fully align with my faith. A friend's dad once told me that sometimes you have to hold your nose and vote because there aren't a lot of great politicians. I imagine some Democratic voters are Christians who hold their nose and vote although I would imagine the amount has shrunk by a lot.
I just love that David has outgrossed the SpongeBob movie.
T-Mobile. I had a contract for no roaming charges and free long distance (back in the early days of cell phones). When my father was dying (and I was about 8 months pregnant), I traveled out of state to visit him on his deathbed and a week later to arrange his funeral so I was making a ton of phone calls.

A few weeks later, I received a huge bill. I called customer service because it was obviously a mistake but was told the contract was invalid because the store wasn't authorized to make that deal. I escalated and escalated (because I had a signed contract!), but was basically told to frick off by their useless customer service team. Truly the rudest group of people I have ever dealt with.

At this point, I am 9 months pregnant, grieving my dad, and mad as hell. I submitted a formal complaint to the FCC for fraud and later got a call from the office of a bigwig at T-Mobile reversing the charges. Too little, too late, but at least I didn't pay the charges.
KingoftheWorld, my husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November. His tumor is also contained to his pancreas. He is doing four rounds of neoadjuvant chemo with the plan to have the Whipple procedure early next year. He had his first round of chemo yesterday.

Unfortunately, he lost his dad to pancreatic cancer in 2021 so we know how fast it can change.

Praying that you have good outcome.

Meet Me in St. Louis is not technically a Christmas movie, but part of it is during Christmas with young Judy Garland singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." We watch it every year.

You mentioned Christmas in Connecticut. Miracle on 34th Street and White Christmas are also on our list every year.

I also love Holiday Inn. It's also not completely a Christmas movie, but it is so fantastic and funny. And it's where Bing Crosby first sang "White Christmas."
There was a case here where a son was abruptly taken off his medication for schizophrenia by a new doctor and ended up stabbing his father to death after having a hallucination. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity and is in a mental institution. I think the psychiatrist was held liable, but the details on that are fuzzy. He had been diagnosed many years prior and had been stable for several years, was married, and had a good job. The switch was apparently really abrupt because of the medication issue.

All that to say, if his medication wasn't working, he truly might not have been fully aware of what he was doing. I feel so bad for the whole family. The siblings lost their parents and their brother. I don't know how you even process that.
Tragic to hear especially if their son did it.
What's the difference between God and a surgeon?

God doesn't think he's a surgeon

I feel like you could challenge this in court and get a settlement. It’s not illegal to sleep with coworkers in private business. I’m not sure how it’s legal to classify legal acts as fireable contractual offenses.

A CEO sleeping with his secretary isn’t getting fired for instance. Why is it different in education?

McDonald's, Intel, and Nestle have all fired their CEOs for having a sexual relationship with an employee which was consensual so yes, CEOs do get fired for this kind of thing.
David Phelps' version of O Holy Night blows Josh Groban out of the water, and I say that as a josh Groban fan.

A Christmas Toast by Bing Crosby. We had a cassette with it on it when I was a kid, and I just always loved it.

It's ultimately a beautifully endearing journey between a father & his children.

"Let's Go Fly a Kite" makes me bawl for this reason. It's a happy song, but it represents the father finally being present for his children and just hits me.

Don't get me started on "Feed the Birds" such a powerful song. It apparently was Walt Disney's favorite song, and he often had the Sherman brothers play it and sing it for him.

When we were up in Racine Wisconsin, me, my wife and two other couples climbed to the top of the lighthouse. When we stepped out to walk around the outside near the light, I turned around and walked right back in. My wife made fun of me.

I did the same thing at the Eiffel Tower this summer. I literally got off the elevator and got back in the line to go back down. It was open air and I could feel it moving. I can at least say I did it. ??
No. Just no. I thought I was gonna die at a local ropes course a few years ago even though it was only about 20 feet off the ground. This is like a real life nightmare.
None here. Mortgage paid off a few years ago and try to live debt-free.

I grew up really poor, and I have a strong need for financial security. Debt stresses me out.

We visited there this summer. We went to Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and obviously the cemetery. We were chaperoning a group of students, and it was so great to see these young people taking the time to learn the truth about history, but it also hit home that many of the young men and those grades were the same age as those students.

At cemetery, we did a wreath laying ceremony and they played Taps and the Star-Spangled Banner. I get emotional just writing about it. Nothing can fully prepare you for the sights of all of those graves while listening to Taps.

While you're walking through Pointe du Hoc, one of the biggest brightest rainbows I've ever seen emerged over the cliffs. Once again, just a completely emotional moment.

Bring something with you to collect sand at Omaha Beach. Since we were with a group, we were only able to stay for a day. I wish we had more time.
