We were divided into 4 groups politically. Lincoln was fighting for his political life in the Republican primary. There was no avoiding the CW. Luckily Lincoln won, as his vision for a unified country was our best path forward. The Southern plantation were basically modern day tech barons, and they had a grip on the country.

Right, it goes back to the 1787. Slavery, and in particular, representation in Congress because of slaves, was a big issue. They essentially punted the ball, but like you said, had they not punted, it was unlikely to get ratified. Their failure to address it while everyone agreed to the final terms all but ensured a major showdown down the road.

Slavery had NOTHING to do with the CW (despite it being the one thing mentioned in all the preambles of the constitutions of the Confederacy).
Slaves were owned by only a small percentage of the population (despite the fact that people were fighting for the RIGHT to own slaves, if they got rich enough).
Slavery was on its way out (despite the fact there's no evidence for this; and, despite the fact it had increased faster than ever before in the years before the CW)
Slaves would've been replaced by machinery (despite the fact that slaves would've remained slaves IF that had even occurred)

By letting the states that wanted to leave do exactly that. Each state could have held a vote to stay in the Union or join the CSA.
Couldn't let that happen and miss out on all the cheap goods and money they got from the southern states though.

The South could have industrialized and diversified it's economy sooner. It was too dependent on agriculture and did not realize that an agrarian society was at a disadvantage in a technologically advancing world.
The advent of the steamboat should have been the wake up call and railroads should have been the kick in the head to drive the point home.

Since we are playing hypothetical scenarios, why not just have our forefathers not bring any slaves here at all. Can you imagine how things would be different? Lower rates of crime for sure.

Haiti may not have "fought a war" over it, but it was far from a peaceful transition. In fact, it was incredibly violent and bloody. Haiti has the most famous "rebellion" by slaves. It is far from the only one. In Ancient Rome, Spartacus led 120,000 escaped gladiators and other slaves that defeated many Roman Legions. It was eventually put down and thousands of the rebels literally crucified for it.
Also, South American countries looked at what happened during our Civil War and did everything in their power to avoid it. Brazil didnt end slavery until 1888. There was plenty of political strife though. It was a hotly contested point from the moment they gained their independence.
Point being: The US is far from the only nation that dealt with the issue of slavery through violence. We just happened to call it "war" instead of "rebellion/uprising/etc"

The only path for the Southern states to leave the United States of America was by constitutional amendment.
That path, however, was doomed. Lincoln was elected after campaigning against the expansion of slavery into new territories. He won without a single electoral vote from the Southern states.
Immediately after his election was certified, states started voting to secede because they believed it was just a matter of time before slavery was eradicated.
