A friend of mine asked how I would handle this situation: His daughter attends school in Livingston Parish, lower elementary, is an only child, he and his wife raise her with conservative values but don't teach her about politics. Yesterday she told mom and dad her class are learning about U.S. presidents. Dad asks which ones have they learned about so far and she answers, "We've only learned about one, Barak Obama, the teacher says he is the greatest president ever and should be allowed to run again. Our next president is going to be a woman."

What says the OT? I'm for talking to the principle in person, this teacher should be reprimanded.

ETA: An update: My friend went and talked to the principal in person, apparently this was not the "primary teacher" for his daughters class and the principal had already gotten a complaint this morning. This was not the first time there has been a problem like this with the same teacher. The principal stated that will be some type of action towards the teacher. To those that think this is a made up story, I wish it were but you know it happens every day and LP is last place I thought it would happen.

Should be shot so she can't corrupt the rest of the gene pool.

Really though, any die hard Dem will tell you the same thing.

There is gonna be a lot of people agreeing with you on this board, as they probably should. It's the teachers job to teach them not project her personal beliefs on to them.

I think if her father can't tell the difference between principle and principal, then she might be better off learning from another source.

Seriously though, I would probably call the principal and express my displeasure.

Address the teacher first. Give her a chance to correct her mistake.

If she continues with the brain washing, then go to the principle. That's just my opinion.

She's there to teach, not indoctrinate kids to the DNC.

"Opinions are like assholes...."

the teacher obviously shouldn't be interjecting politics into the school

but the same people here that will destroy this teacher, would praise the same teacher if the teacher told the class that their is only one savior, and his name is Jesus Christ or if the teacher had said that Obama is the worst president of all time

in other words, people are fricking hypocrites when it comes to this type of stuff

Unfortunately there's no way for bias to not enter into ones teaching. This is an egregious overstep though.
I have encountered similar situations with my kids and I handled them multiple ways.
First, I review and correct when necessary my kids lessons and text books.
Secondly I write a note or have a meeting with the teacher and ask her to keep her personal biases out of my kids education
My next step, which I haven had to take is to go to the board of the school skipping the principal altogether.

Really? It's that big of a deal that a teacher expressed an opinion?

A lot of people don't know that the principal is your pal.

The principal can't do anything.

You have to go straight to the school board to begin the process of having her fired.

She's probably racist too.

This happens thousands of times everyday. Just explain to your kids why the teacher is incorrect and what you believe.

Not a big deal.

Get ready to get called everything from a racist to a pedophile if you bring this up with the teacher personally.
