That district is so damn tough!
Rayne may finish 4th and they have a guy throwing mid 90s and just run ruled a really good and tough ND squad
re: Social Security has 6 years left, cut benefits or raise taxes?

In six years let the current retirees drain the current fund and let the rest of us have our damn money and invest it ourselves. We’re better at it anyway.
Note: I know it’s not possible but I just want this system to end and to get my money back

re: What makes Curiel a better prospect than Brown?
Posted by Quatre Pot on 3/18/26 at 8:17 am to NeilArmstrong1969
Honestly I don’t think there’s much separating the two but right now it’s project ability . Curiel has elite bat to ball and A LOT more juice left. Pro orgs see a guy they can easily add 15-20 lbs of muscle too without sacrificing athleticism and adjust bat path to generate more lift and they’ve got a 20-20 guy at worst
Brown is closer to what he’s going to be - a big leaguer- today so less upside in the long run. Big leaguer orgs lust over potential

It’s awesome. The energy and competitiveness was great.
Agree 1000000%!
Saw someone mention that “if baseball were always like this it would be the most popular sport in America”…..
I invite you (them) to college baseball. WBC is the best in the world playing college baseball for a few weeks
It’s not perfect but it’s damn close- as close as think you could reasonable make it without putting it mid season or something like that so everyone is ramped up
re: Rate the state of my financial situation. Advice welcomed.

First off:
You’re doing very well! Congrats
Your discretionary spending is a bit high though. My sincere advice is to follow Dave Ramsey’s plan. Essentially:
Create a budget and stick to it tightly
Eliminate car notes
Eliminate credit cards balances
Build up emergency fund
You’re going to be living below your means for while and it can get frustrating to see all of your friends with nicer things than you, but within a few years that script flips and you can be completely financially independent.
I’m 43 and my wife and I starting using the plan when I was a few years younger than you. 6 kids all in private school the whole 9 yards. Haven’t had a car notes in 15 years, 100% financially independent today, and, when I started my new business a few years back we had 2 years of income in cash. Lifestyle didn’t have to change!
My point is definitely not to brag about me. I’m hoping to help you get ready for a life with children

re: Illuminator, news partners sue LSU for records of payments to college athletes
Posted by Quatre Pot on 3/14/26 at 7:25 am to lionward2014
Rev share goes through the school and we know how much public money is being spent to pay athletes. This year it’s $20.5 million
Anything from the MMR fund (read true NIL) is not public money. Businesses use the MMR to access athletes for marketing purposes. That would not be subject to public scrutiny.
Honestly not sure the public has a vested interest in knowing which players are getting what % of that $20.5M

The only entity in the world I’d want to run anything involving my kids less than the LHSAA may be the Louisiana legislature!
That said, I’m torn on this one. While I don’t want Wild West recruiting I also know that the LHSAA and its member schools have screwed the pooch with archaic, anti student rules for a very long time. Guess we’ll see where it goes

If you need to bridge a gap when building, and you buy one used, then yes.
For a true starter home I’d say generally no and never new because of the fact that it’s a depreciating asset. With that said, for some people it’s a dream home so….

re: Looking at the stickied roster thread, what is currently your biggest concern?
Posted by Quatre Pot on 1/17/26 at 7:50 am to PenguinNinja
I’m always concerned about OL above all else. Got some great pieces but OL is bigger than pieces. Everything else (besides QB which I’m no longer concerned about) can be schemed or figured out other ways.

re: Fractional CFO
Posted by Quatre Pot on 1/12/26 at 12:10 pm to Rex Feral
As has been stated fit is critical here (and for any fractional role)
Where I’ve seen it work:
Entrepreneurial companies without a moderate level of financial leadership in the company. Think companies who get it done and make money but aren’t really sure how. The right fit can help them clean up the books, get reporting and insight straight, etc.
also, when people are looking to do M&A or other specific projects outside the expertise of the current otherwise strong team, they’ll get someone to augment their expertise.
Where it doesn’t work is when you bring someone in to be the savior and they don’t fit the company at all
