No, actually. I do not. I am limited to a 50 mile radius around my place of residence, I can't go home to see my family under any circumstances, and if I want to travel so much as one mile outside of that radius, I have to get direct permission to do so. All major cities around me are off limits and it is highly recommended that I only leave my residence to buy groceries and to pick up food.

They don't seem to be doing all that well.
The death rates are not a good comparison between those 3 countries - not at this time anyway. They each have very similar number of cases per million. The only reason lack of restrictions would cause Sweden to have a higher death rate is if their hospitals were overcrowded with Covid patients thus leading to inadequate care - which is not happening, at least not now. Ultimately, it is yet to be seen whether Sweden's approach is better - but stating that they "don't seem to be doing all that well" because of their higher death rate has nothing to do with their restrictions or lack thereof.

Because that’s literally what this thread is about. Saying to let’s completely ignore Italy, France, Spain, UK. We are more like Iceland and Sweden than them.

Once it comes to talking social policies, then demographics suddenly matter again.

I’d be curious to know what their hospitals did as far as elective surgeries etc.
Assuming the hospitals don’t get overwhelmed then quick exposure and herd immunity and move on with their lives sounds good. Particularly if no effective vaccine gets developed (or developed in a reasonable fashion) then there in theory would be no lives saved by social distancing.
If an effective therapy is proven/prophylactic/vaccine then the opposite becomes more tolerable

Swedes naturally practice social distancing in everyday life. They don't do chit-chat and they don't crowd spaces.

Also, for the simps in this thread, take a look at the daily chart for reported cases and deaths for Sweden. There's quite the pattern there.

We can not compare the melting pot of the US with homogenous countries. They all think the same, look the same, worship the same, eat the same.
What works in regards to a lot of things, in these places could not work here.

Sweden population, just over 10 million population. 17 yesterday, 77 the day before.
Let’s extrapolate that to the US which have just over 360 Million population, so times 36
17 times 36 is 612. 77 times 36 is 2772.
Last 2 days in the US 1090 today - 1830 yesterday.
US total - 21,667 deaths
Sweden totals - 899 deaths. Times 36 is 32,364
Hope that helps.
Also of note, Sweden has asked their citizens to practice social distancing, follow handwashing protocols to slow the spread, and for high risk people to self isolate with the general population being cognizant of appropriately avoiding situations that compromise those at high risk. There is a moratorium against gatherings of more than 50 people.
Sweden is a fairly homogenous population with generally the same social norms which probably includes a certain inclination toward doing things for the common good. The government actually said they trust the general population to do what they should. How many of you guys feel that way about the general population in the US? How about Louisiana?

Home of the EU.
We have offices in Belgium, they also had a researcher say coronavirus's are less severe than the flu, so there was a bit of a conspiracy theory spreading around Belgian news sources that this was some sort of political purge in China. May have led to them being blindsided a bit.
