It's not.

Over consumption can cause specific cancers. But to label it a leading cause is a half-truth at best.

Meh...IARC listed alcohol as a known carcinogen in 1988. I don't care either way. That being said, if they put a skull and crossbones on the labels...it might actually increase sales. Does anyone really drink alcohol and think, "I'll bet this is really good for my health"? The risk is why we even made PGA Punch in college. It sure as hell wasn't for the taste.

Put the labels on Coke/Pepsi products first. They are FAR more damaging.

Alcohol is a leading cause of cancer, a risk that should be clearly labeled on drinks Americans consume

It’s also a contributing cause of pregnancy. That should be included on the warning label.

Alcohol is unambiguously a carcinogen and very strongly correlated with colorectal cancers. This is not new information and has been known for decades.

That being said, drink your fool arse off. Idc. Warning labels don’t bother me either way

That doesn't mean it's a leading cause of cancers in general though. The article is inflating it.

I told everyone who cheered as they Vice-taxed smokers into extinction, they’ll come for the booze next. No growth in bilking big tobacco and their consumer slaves, time to move on to Americas alcoholism problem

Idk. Pretty much every global source I could find has it in the top 5. Being responsible for 5-6% of total cancers seems like a whole lot to me
