New Orleans folks consider Kenner and Harahan the West Bank????

I didn't realize that if I would have drawn that red line to circle the West Bank the entirety of the MS River would have been to the east (read above) it.

Not saying your wrong just saying I didn't realize that.

west bank refers to the west bank of the river. Avondale, westwedo, harvey, gretna, Algeirs and that area. further out is belle chase but that is entirely different

Which when looking at a map, it's actually east of the river .. how is that the west bank? Do you see my confusion??

Also, what's amazing to me is that it seems like there was really no problem at all w/ a storm surge there.

Water had gone down. Did you see the barge on its side against the tractor? All that was probably under water at some point

I dislike the city as much as anyone but people have to realize that NOLA is the most influential and important city in the state. It is obviously going to get more attention than LC or any other city in the state. There is such an inferiority complex throughout the state. If there was no NOLA Louisiana would be like idaho.

No.

My assumption is that SFP had Owl draw that map for him.

shouldnt be. Both ida and laura are sister storms that were terrible just like katrina and rita.

hopefully for swla sake, IDA gets the whole southern part of the state money and I really believe it will. Like SFP said, road home on steroids.

in the end, the power has to leave the plant and they can not afford to runit underground. it has to be high above the ground because of how strong the voltage is. they already make the towers out of steel. They can only do so much.

One point to add color to is that Entergy, or any utility, is not dependent on local Generation Plants to supply all power. MISO is the transmission operator for the entire central US. Yes, the infrastructure coming into the city will have to be repaired, but can be re-reouted depending on the easiest route to get power to the city. There can be temporary fixes while repairs to major lines are done.

The west bank of the river is the same side of the river no matter where it flows.

Our hurricane was a year ago and much stronger than Katrina

Hell, this isn't even a Rita/Katrina situation b/c Rita was immediately after (and, again, stronger than Katrina, iirc)

I grew up in Kenner and it’s always been considered as part of the east bank.

Lady in lower VP appreciates any help.

BTW, anyone heard from peej? Said he had a tree on one side of his trailer, couldn't leave the park and one of his dogs was missing. Poor fella and I truly mean that.

My heart hurts for all affected.

correct, but if all transmission lines from every direction going into the city, one direction has to be repaired before they can get anything up.

It confused me too the first time I went down to Algiers, but the confusion is only because the river makes that S-curve around NOLA. The river is the divider between west and east bank between the two areas. If you think of it as a reference to which riverbank the area occupies, it becomes more clear.
