Bobby Couvillion is a local pressure washer, who rants while driving his truck and calls it Driving with Bobby. He screams I did my homework then shares false info. He tagged Randys wife in a post this week, accusing Randy of an affair. Bobby is nothing more than a glorified keyboard warrior. Bobby is also a “executive protection specialist” and got beat up by the fat, drunk sheriff.

LMAO, bc this is 100% the best summary of this whole ordeal.

If the sheriff used his position as sheriff in any way to knock this dude t frick out, then yes. If not, it’s just another bar room fight amongst idiots and will be treated as such.

Wrong

The Attorney General's office is already investigating that Smith was the aggressor and that the physical contact was unlawful, he could face formal criminal charges, drunk or not is not a reason to assault someone, despite Couvillion being an a-hole. The chief law enforcement officer is expected to de-escalate conflicts, not participate in physical fights at local businesses.

Smith could face anywhere from a simple battery or second-degree battery (felony) depending on the severity of injuries that were sustained by Couvillion.

The AG could push for malfeasance in office, which is a severe felony charge brought against public officials who intentionally perform a duty in an unlawful manner. A conviction under malfeasance carries potential prison time and would legally disqualify Smith from holding public office.

Typically those engaging in bar fights are poors and thus essentially judgement proof. If this guy has assets they are vulnerable to civil suit. I'm not sure local government has any culpability unless actions get tied to his position of authority. I wonder if letting him go w no arrest play into whether the government has culpability.

Good, hope it holds. I guess I meant Covington. I’ve seen negative things in the past on that school in present headlines and with all of the building and influx, hopefully, schools don’t sink.

That charge requires the person to be either using their position to do something illegal or not doing something their position requires. Hard to see how that fits.

Second Degree Battery could apply. But it requires rendering the victim unconscious or causing significant injuries requiring hospitalization. A “oof my neck and back call a lawyer” doesn’t normally cut it.

In a phone interview, Couvillion alleged that while he was sitting at the restaurant's bar with his wife, someone came up from behind him and started choking him. He said he later identified the man as Smith and claimed that Smith kicked and punched him. He said five people had to remove Smith and that sheriff's deputies responded to the scene.

"I'm beat up pretty good," Couvillion said during the phone interview, which took place while he said he was being treated at a Covington hospital.

Who is Bobby Couvillion?
Couvillion, a Madisonville-area resident, has become one of Smith's most ardent critics on social media, regularly issuing criticism of the sheriff and other public officials. He has had other run-ins with Smith. In 2019, he was booked on a misdemeanor cyberstalking charge by the sheriff's office for allegedly sending threatening messages to a person who lived in the Covington area. He accused Smith of targeting him with the allegations for political purposes, a claim that Smith denied. It wasn't immediately clear how the cyberstalking case was resolved.

Bobby baited the sheriff into this and the sheriff took the bait. It’s like dangling raw meat in front of a hungry tiger. Honestly, I might have done the same thing if people are talking shite about my family. I don’t have the patience with these stupid adults to be a cop or sheriff.

So if couvillion defended himself with force against Smith, would he be guilty of battery against a police officer?

He got a busted lip, and left in a neck brace on a stretcher. He then posted on Facebook and took it down within an hour. This is textbook setting up for a lawsuit.

I am no lawyer, but I don’t see how you can sue the employer for a fight off the clock.

What I've learned in this thread is apparently Keith Young's is trashy unlike 527 which I frequent and can happily report had no fights when I was last there on Wednesday.

Downtown is nice. I think Covington is cool. I don’t live there but it just upsets me to see all of the development. Some family lives there so I do visit often. I think STP is very pretty in most areas. Still has land and trees. I enjoy being on the northshore, just feels different.
