Man...Tulane sucks.

I would obviously prefer Tulane to win today, but since they won't, I hope them and jmu both lose by 50. Sure it won't change anything but maybe the people in charge of these retarded decisions will at least inwardly cringe even if only for a moment
Indiana doesn't scare me in the slightest. I just want bama to exit as early as possible. Knowing our history with them, why anyone would actively want them to advance farther into the playoff boggles the mind

probably my favorite "leaked" lockerroom speech ever. I do kinda hate though that it's always referred to as being before the TCU game which isn't correct. I believe several players confirmed it was prior to the SECCG.

how ON EARTH could someone use a company stamp to send company money to her own personal bank and nobody notice for that long? Do they not have accountants or bookkeepers or anything? Yeah she was in payroll but I mean surely there is some entity that is aware of all the money incoming and outgoing right? Like wtf

In 2017 Auburn beat both Alabama and Georgia in the regular season.

they had 2 losses to those other team's 1, which is preeeetty important. But let's continue.

quote:

Their "reward" for beating Alabama was they had to play in the SEC Championship game vs. Georgia.

Yes, from 1992-2023 the winners of each division played for the conference title. That isn't anything new or fist shaking unique to AU in 2017

quote:

while Alabama stayed home.

yes, stayed home meaning they were not in control of their destiny. Had Auburn won the game, you would have a top 4 of the major conference winners; Clemson/AU/OU/OSU.

quote:

Georgia won and, as a result, Alabama got to jump a team they had just lost to for literally doing nothing.

Well alabama had 1 loss compared to AU's 3, so yeah I'd say that makes sense.

In 2023

Was not in the first 9 years of the playoff as I mentioned. That final year in 2023 was FUBAR'd every which way so you'll get no arugment from me.

quote:

Any time there something else besides predetermined objective criteria

The first 9 years they did use this even if people stick their fingers in their ears and ignore it. You needed to be a conference champion, or if you didn't win your conference you needed 1 loss and some luck. I posted a "Playoff committee decision making thread" 9 straight yeras on thsi board explaning in detial why the ocmmittee operated like they did and they operated the exact same way 100% of the time in those 9 years.

Hell, just last season, in the first 12 team CFP,

The 12 team playoff is dumb as shite so again I have no arugments otherwise

lmao SC and AU have a way of making great coaches look shitty. As another example see current Broyles award finalist mike bobo.

At some point people need to realize maybe the coach isn't the problem but the program..

Muschamp is a home run hire any way you slice it.

I was hoping that whenever Schu leaves we'd just plug Muschamp right in.

Man that is surprising to me. He was lights out as a staffer here but stepped away to spend more time with family and watch his son play ball.

I guess I just assumed that if he ever got the itch again it'd be at UGA in some capacity instead of the pressure cooker that is DC at a program like texas (yes, obviously I know his history there).

Grand slam hire for texas.

5th ranked team is often just as deserving as 1st or 2nd.

not really. If after 12 games + CCGs you are only 5th, you have clearly done something along the way to lose your shot. Look at the example you posted for this year:

quote:

1 Ohio State
2 Indiana
3 Georgia
4 Oregon
5 Ole Miss

Ole miss didn't win their conference and already lost to a team in the playoffs. Are they good? Yes, they're really good actually. But yoru resume is your resume. Having 3 teams in the top 4 from the same league is also absurd. If we had 4 teams this year you should have Indiana, UGA, and Texas Tech for sure as champions of conferences. Then let people figure out between OSU and Oregon who should also be in.

This would be ELECTRIC.

And therein lies an issue. It shouldn't be about electricity, or entertainment, or coolness factor. It should be about allowing the most desreving teams a chance to be the national champion. Sorry but fricking USC or Texas have less than zero claim to say they are national champion and have no business in the playoff
quote:

I'd prefer a 16 team playoff

gross
quote:

4 team playoff was the sweet spot, imo.

the first 9 years of the 4 team playoff was perfection, and IMO, they got it right literally every single time. Don't get me started on the cluster that was the final year.

Almost without fail there will be more than 2 teams that have a legit, deserving case to say they have a shot to be national champion, which is why I was on board with things expanding. 12 is way too fricking many though. There will literally NEVER in history be 12 teams that deserve a chance to be #1. If we were absolutely dead set on expanding it should have been 6. 8 is still too many.

Six years ago, the world’s most valuable sports team was worth $5 billion. Now, that figure wouldn’t even crack the top 50.

can someone ELI5 how this is even possible? Like what has changed in such a short period of time to make these numbers so drastically different?

We're missing out on some epic matches. Why?

because today's society is built on "everyone gets a trophy" participation awards. When the powers that be felt a deep sadness in their puny hearts because the little guy didn't have a chance to be champion over the bama's of the world, they decided we needed to make everything more "fair" and let the little guy in despite having less than zero business being anywhere near it.

And just like last year we will see shite games in the first round with the 11 and 12 seeds both being utterly demolished. But hey, at least they got a shot right!?

Not surprising

i kept up with missouri for abtou 10 seconds this year...why is that not surprising? From what I recall he was pretty damn good wasn't he ?
I remember when the portal first started and it was "against the rules" to contact anyone unless they had officially entered.

Now we have opposing teams announcing that another team's guy is entering lol. Gee I wonder why?

if you mean the show mentioned in the OP i have no idea. the FBHW show came back and is now on 100.1

I think the guy playing QB that led them to 3 total points probably contributed to that a bit more than the lights
