Obviously complete speculation at this point, but the pilot sounded like a young woman, probably in her 20's, with lower flight hours. Makes you wonder if there was a more experienced pilot on board and if so, why they didn't step in sooner.

Also, if she was a low hours or training pilot, if the weather was out there, why she was flying through that to begin with.

She was likely working the radio as the other one was flying.

I don't think that was the case. In the audio clip she said that they were managing the ice.

Considered that, but she was communicating the entire time in the longer video even before the emergency happened. Is that normal?

First officers often handle the radio.

Flight-tracking data indicated the aircraft entered a steep, rapid right-hand descent exceeding 32,000 feet per minute before impacting the ground near a roadway and erupting into a large fireball.

Do planes tend to roll/turn right when they lose rudder? I would assume that would result in a corkscrew, though.

Twitter has some posts showing the weather at the time and the pilot flew right into what looked like a super cell. Man, that just seemed like a bad decision. In my experiences flying in small planes, you always fly around bad weather …always…and if the flight takes an extra 1-2 hours, so be it. Maybe you can fly over it, but you actually better be over it , like clear above you and around you. I’m just hoping The Pilots didn’t feel pressured to get these people to the Bahamas “on time”. This has a sort of Kobe Bryant helicopter vibe , weather is terrible, should be flying around it or not at all, but decide to go for it because you’re under pressure.

Could they not have flown south of Key West and come in from there? They were coming from Texas, that seems reasonable? Why would they knowingly fly straight through the middle of a system like that?

Probably some a-hole on board telling pilot I am in hurry fly thought it.

I worked for a mfer like that once and we took off from a thunderstorm in citation 2 going from New Orleans to Pascagoula and that mfer dropped 1500 feet during take off and was flying sideways. Only reason we flew is so he could show off his plane. Ended up in prison.

ATC has a lot to do with where they are allowed to fly. Can’t just go wherever you want.

Drone footage shows about 22 emergency service vehicles all surrounding the site now.

Not sure what they thought they could do there.

Looks like they could just repave the road and move on. Not much to recover there.

There were likely some injuries on the ground. Probably hazmat, too.

Probably icing, was not properly recovered or averted, catastrophic stall..

God rest her soul, and I do not like writing this but look how many of the deadly crashes are piloted by women
