Mexico is what happens when the rule of law is undermined by rampant corruption, indifference, and incompetence. Lawless hellhole.

I despair for the future of the human race. Stupidity increasing exponentially every hour.
re: Is a secksless marriage reason enough for divorce?
Posted by DmitriKaramazov on 2/10/26 at 5:09 am to Turnblad85
Yes. No person should be forced to abandon one of the most wonderful and pleasurable aspects of human existence. Both partners need to contribute to a successful sex life by maintaining their attractiveness and prioritizing intimacy and romance, but if it becomes obvious that no effort will rectify the situation, or that one partner is unwilling to contribute, divorce is warranted.

People have become increasingly insufferable over the last ten years, particularly since COVID, in my view. Many have transformed into overbearing ideologues and political zealots who feel impelled to trumpet their views in every interaction. Often times, they are ignorant, but that does not prevent them from taking absolutist positions on things they know nothing about. It's exhausting and depressing.

I abhor AI. Potentially extremely promising for scientific and technological applications, otherwise just a mechanism for eroding independent human rationality and eradicating the jobs that hardworking families depend on.

Perfectly representative of the morons who idolize a deranged coward who murderd an unarmed man in an ambush.

re: For those of you who live or have lived in Chicago, what's so great about it?

All four professional sports. Two baseball teams. One of the most beloved venues in all the world (Wrigley). There is a compelling sporting event almost every week of the year.
World-class cuisine, both authentic ethnic fare and numerous Michelin-starred restaurants.
World-class museums, including the Art Institute and the Field Museum.
Birthplace of the skyscraper and one of the true architectural gems in the world. Architectural cruises along the river showcase the most prominent landmarks.
During the summer, beaches and a panoramic, publicly accessible lakefront for running, biking, lounging, playing, dogs, and swimming. A river corridor lined with walkways and bars.
Endless street festivals.
Some of the highest rated hotels in the world.
Good public transportation.
A wondrous array of walkable neighborhoods with bars, restaurants, and local businesses on nearly every corner.
Home to many high-paying jobs in the financial, legal, and tech sectors.
Two universities generally considered among the top ten in the nation and the top twenty five in the world.
Cultural institutions such as the Lyric Opera and Joffrey Ballet.
Luxury designer shopping outlets, if you are into such things.
An airport with non-stop flights to destinations around the world (virtually every major European city, Tokyo, South Korea, South America, and so on).
I could go on, but Chicago has many allures. Don't get me wrong, the leftist city and state governments are doing their damndest to drive the city into ruin and oblivion, but Chicago remains a great metropolis.

They lost Saban. Saban was the luster. Alabama has no endemic advantages as a program.

re: Am I the only one who is fed up with all Of the AI
Posted by DmitriKaramazov on 1/15/26 at 10:49 am to turnpiketiger
It's beyond tiresome. Because of its powerful pattern recognition capabilities, AI holds great promise in the sciences and medicine. But that's where it should remain. The indiscriminate propagation of generative AI will erode human rationality, strangle independent thought, impoverish human culture, and - perhaps worst of all - imperil the financial security of millions of families. Awesome.

Words cannot convey how weary I am of AI. Every article, every platform, every media outlet, every program, every symposium, every business, every meeting, every email, every initiative, every post on LinkedIn, every continuing education class in any field. AI.

6 or 7 million a year for a QB who has never won much of anything is obscene and myopic. To put it in perspective, $7 million a year is more than the 8th pick in the first round of the NFL draft makes annually. It's almost twice as much as the 32nd pick makes.
CFB needs to be fixed, and soon.
Im assuming the 7 million is for one season, not two.

Grateful the Ole Miss playoff odyssey is over.

Still irrelevant. No championships of any kind since the 1960s.
I was weary of hearing hyperbolic, melodramatic tales of Kiffin's supposed "betrayal."
Ole Miss can now retreat back into the fog of its half-century obscurity.
Meanwhile, in Baton Rouge, a beast opens its eyes once more and begins to stir.

Yearly unbridled free agency is an unsavory spectacle. No other sport suffers this nonsense.
