Friend tried this "never got the flu shot" routine and has been on his butt for over a week with flu. Late 40's. His wife got shot because of work, felt like she had a bad cold for a couple of days and was back to work in 3 days.

Wife a PA that has worked in hospitals.....docs there refused it so she always has.

So your wife isn’t capable of thinking for herself?

Not making a great case for her being a PA.
Last provider I would want to see is one that doesn’t believe in the flu shot. I would be worried about their competence.

ETA: Also could argue any healthcare professional that doesn’t get a flu shot doesn’t fully care about their patients. I hope your wife isn’t around babies, young children, or the elderly.

How irresponsible of her.

I haven't gotten the flu vaccine since 2006 and have only used 1 sick day in the past 5 years so I'd say my immune system is pretty strong

I've never needed my seatbelt, that's why I never wear one.

Maybe the world needs another flu pandemic like the one in 1918 that wiped out a third of the world's population.

To purge the world of all these idiots.

Bonus....it would rid the world of all the crazy anti vaxxers as well.

I don't get the flu shot unless required by clients (which is probably about 5 out of the last 10 years). I'm not stupid enough to think that the flu shot makes me ill, but I do typically feel like shite for a couple days after getting the shot. I've never had the flu.

Never gotten the flu or the vaccine. I'm not an anti-vaxer, but the flu vaccine seems kinda pointless except for those in extreme risk conditions.

I’ve never had the flu shot, though I don’t think that’s brag worthy. I just don’t even know what time of year that happens (now?).

Got the flu once, 2 years ago. And it came after a night of heavy drinking so I thought it was a hangover from hell. Even went to the IV spa and got fluids before it got worse and I realized it was no hangover. Man.. the flu is no joke. I get colds every year and this was nothing like that. I did lose like 5lbs though.

I've never gotten a flu shot and have not had the flu in more years than they started implementing the flu shot program.

Maybe I'm just lucky like that, who knows. My wife, on the other hand, gets one every year either at the Drs. office or the local pharmacy.

Yeah I don’t get just because I don’t really think about it. I am not against it though.

Are you around any of these between September until the end of March:

1) People 65 and older
2) Children
3) Babies
4)Immunocompromised people (ex: people with cancer going through chemo, etc)

If you answered yes...YOU NEED A FLU SHOT. Unless you want to possibly get those people sick.

You just said you are around a lot of people on a regular basis. If any of those people are over 65 or under the age of 10...you should do the responsible thing and get a flu shot. Flu season is from September 1 through usually the end of March(although you can get the flu year round).

Yeah same. I don’t have kids and I don’t even have coworkers. So I never hear about it until someone posts about it here.

I live under a rock with this type of thing.
