re: Who purchases the team next?
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 2/23/26 at 4:06 pm to The Hurricane
Vegas and Seattle are both going to get expansion teams in the next few years, and Gayle's payout will be ~$400 million from that. Any talks of a potential sale would happen after that occurs. The NBA wants to get expansion done before talking any particular relocation. And they know relocation is not on the table while Gayle owns the team, so no reason to entertain that at this point.

I'm a fan of both of those pieces and I have come dangerously close to buying the new Breitling Superocean Heritage. Breitling rolled out their new calibre B31 and they're making great watches at reasonable sizes with it. The integrated mesh bracelet is really well done. Longines makes great watches at a really good price point.
re: Can Queen even dunk the ball at 6’9”?
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 1/28/26 at 3:00 pm to Demps
Queen reminds me a little of Naz Reid athletically when Naz was at LSU. Naz wasn't very athletic in college and was a little heavy. He would be on a breakaway and barely dunk the ball. Now he's remade his body and has become a great athlete. I'm not sure if Queen has that in him, but I think he will get more athletic as his body matures.
re: Any word on LSU's proposed new basketball arena?
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 1/27/26 at 1:07 pm to The Hurricane
This is not an LSU facilities project. This is an Oak View Group project. It is privately funded and built and run by Oak View Group, and will be leased to LSU for athletics use. Read up on the Moody Center in Austin. It's a first class venue and that is the model they are using for the LSU project.

My best guess is ~$1,000 at the most. I agree with the others on getting it serviced and preserving as much of the original parts as possible. You don't use a watch, but it would still be nice to have to wear for special occasions.

Venetian and Wynn are the two closest and most walkable resorts to the Sphere. I would start with those two.
re: Four Seasons booking - recommendation
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 12/10/25 at 1:17 pm to Humpty Grumpy
I highly recommend booking through a travel agent for Four Seasons properties. You will get perks like a resort credit, daily breakfast included, room upgrades, etc. Some TAs have a website you can book through which makes it so easy. I found one through r/chubbytravel on Reddit and she emailed her link and password. When we checked in, she had even sent champagne and chocolates to our room. All for the same price as it would have been directly through Four Seasons.

The odds for teams with the 3 worst records give them each a 52% chance to be within the top 4, and a 48% chance to be outside of the top 4. Take history out of the equation, those are the odds.
re: Is TAF financially ready for facility upgrades?
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 11/5/25 at 2:14 pm to marcus3000
The arena is being paid for by a third party, who will retain ownership for 30 years. They will lease the arena to LSU for sports, and put on concerts and other events on their own. It's a great deal for LSU and the city.

Vince played a desperate game throughout, making it very clear his only mission each week was figuring out a way to get to the next week. He burned everyone he was close to along the way, other than Morgan. He just was not likable at all, from both a fan and a jury perspective. His answers made it clear he didn't understand how badly he was hurting people along the way. Expecting those people to turn around and vote for was foolish.

You can take Dalrymple and get on I10W. Then go towards downtown BR and take the first exit - Government St. U-Turn and get back on the interstate going back the direction you need. I've been doing this for nearly 20 years.

Basketball State Champions. Still one of the best memories of my lifetime.
re: Spirit Airlines Acknowledges that there is "Substantial Doubt" it can Continue Operations
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 8/12/25 at 1:45 pm to H2O Tiger
This was the ultimate nail in the coffin and a mistake by the DOJ. I can't help but feel like the decision was 100% made to protect Delta, American and United. This will be a major blow for MSY if Spirit goes under. Demand and prices for Southwest flights will go through the roof. Spirit flies a lot of the same routes as Southwest and helps keep prices more competitive. I actually really enjoy flying Spirit's big front seats.

My wife and I applied 2 weeks ago and each got our approval in less than 24 hours. I would definitely try calling and seeing if you can figure out what is going on.

Single day tickets are available through the Universal website now. You no longer have to purchase the 3 day, 3 park ticket if you don't want to.

My son is almost 3 and he can't get enough of The Goofy Movie. It's crazy how well this movie has held up over 30 years and the soundtrack is still so good. It was one of my favorites as a kid and it's awesome to see how much my son loves it.
re: MSY parking
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 3/11/25 at 11:20 am to Shexter
Just to clarify, the walkway is on the 4th floor of the parking garage and it puts you into the 3rd floor of the airport terminal near the check in counters.
re: Courtside club?

It's a nice set up. Multiple bars plus a nice draft beer selection. Good food selection too, plus popcorn, candy, etc. It's a nice perk that comes with courtside seats. First row courtside also has access to the Chariman's Club, which is a separate all-inclusive club room through the Courtside Club.

Express passes will not be included with any hotel stays, including the new in-park hotel - Helios Grand. It will still come with Express Pass included for the two existing parks. They have said Express will be available for purchase by opening day. They have also said that they will have single day tickets available prior to opening day as well. They are trying to sell as many of the 3 and 4 day packages as possible before releasing single days to non-AP holders.
re: Taking my younger ones to Disney world at the beginning of August. Any tips?
Posted by TheFlyingDrogbas on 7/8/24 at 1:43 pm to GeauxTigahs92
Youtube videos are going to be your best friend. They are changing the Lightning Lane system in about 2 weeks so you're at somewhat of a disadvantage with that, but at least now you'll be able to plan it advance and remove some of the daily stress. The two most informative Youtubers I've seen are Mammoth Club and EarScouts. Check them both out and they will help more than reading through Disney's website.

Linkin Park.
Saw them 2 days after I turned 18 in the summer right of 2007 before I started college with 3 of my best friends. Still one of the best shows I've ever been to. Chester was incredible live and I would do a lot to be able to see him/them again.
