I'm not really a Ford fan; drivng mostly Honda & Toyota vehicles my whole life but recently inherited a '12 F150 from my uncle and I'm actually enjoying it.
What are the OTs thoughts on a first-vehicle? I'm sure the entire first page will be 'you poor' or 'get her a bugatti' but i would love to hear from anyone who has owned an escape.
TIA

Why does he have any say? should be happy that he's even getting a car

They're ugly, that's all I can add.
Why not get a used 4Runner? I know you love those things.

Make sure he knows how to push his car off the interstate.

My wife has a 2014 Escape. No issues

Ford stands for “found on side of the road”.
Do yourself a favor and avoid Jeep, Ford, and Dodge.

Get him a 2002 Ford Escape with like 200,000 miles on it. Win/win.

I had a hand me down 1978 toyota corona station wagon. shite brown.
Hand me down from my brother. Who ragged the hell out of it.
Tell the kid to drive a piece of crap until he can buy one himself

Find him a used Civic stick shift. Hand me down beaters should be kid's first car. Needs to be fairly reliable, but not one that you'd be pissed about a dent in. If my kid graduates with his college paid for, then I'll buy him a new vehicle.

All 3 of ours got hand me downs from us when we got a newer vehicle ... no one complained and they were just happy with a vehicle with a/c and in decent condition.
No Escapes BUT one was a Ford F250 that my husband had and that thing is still rolling with 275,000 miles (on the farm now) and one was an Expedition that just put over 200K miles. No real issues with either of them.
Spend what you are comfortable with price wise and be comfortable reliability wise.
(Our Fords have never ever left us on the side of the road)

I fully endorse parents getting their kids a beater for their first car. They will hit everything. back into everything, get door dings, etc.

Get him a used Toyota Tacoma or tundra. Around late 90’s/early2000’s model. High school kids and their friends are gonna all pile in and tear shite up. Let him run it till the wheels fall off.

Apparently the OT does not believe in the existence of daughters.
