That’s why I only go to theater size shows. Better bands, more affordable and atmosphere is so much better

I’ve seen Eric Church, Hardy, George Strait, Jon Pardi, Creed, Zac Brown, and Dierks Bentley over the past couple of years - all packed and great shows. Maybe it’s because the artists listed are garbage?

What little disposal income the average person has is swallowed up by gas prices.

And it doesn’t get any easier once you get in. Brooks & Dunn are coming to Lafayette in October, you’re looking at $300-$400 for non-nosebleed tickets, $400-$600 if you want decent seats on the floor. Figure ~$100 if you go to dinner before and another $100 for a couple rounds of drinks inside. I’m sure the place will be packed but ~$600 for a night out on a Thursday ain’t for me.

According to Pollstar, the live music industry trade publication, average primary-market ticket prices jumped from $96.17 to $135.92 between 2019 and 2024.

The artists voted for this.

Touring and merchandise are about the only profit for the music industry these days. It's more or less killed the small venue scene in mid sized metros and bands/acts on that level are doing it mostly for the love. So big acts are playing too large of venues trying to maximize profit and they ain't got the chops to pull it off. Throw in the "gray market" bot farms buying up everything and artificially escalating demand and this is where you get.

Streaming dealt a critical blow to good music. It's a commodity now and shows are just another boutique luxury.

The stadium and arena concert scene is dying anyways as the 60s and 70s acts stop touring and/or die.

Yeah, I have almost zero interest in paying exorbitant prices for anything other than something like the Eagles on their last legs. I will say I saw Jon Batiste in a theater setting last year and that was pretty awesome. Stadiums and arenas are probably dead for anything other than Taylor Swift.

Saw the Eagles Tuesday night in ATL Truist Park on their never ending last show retirement tour….they will be like the Stones Last Show until they fall dead on Stage. It was a freebie for attending a meeting… I wouldn’t pay to see them even with VIP seating etc as I get older don’t enjoy have to be somewhere 3-4 hours to hear songs I have heard a million times on the radio and the live version is distorted, have to wait between songs nd its all lip syncing now

The names of the tours are funny when talking about canceling them.

I like going to concerts but ticket prices and fees keep me from going to almost any band that come to New Orleans.

In March Journey was playing in the Smothie King Center. Wife and I were thinking of going and checked the prices it was about $150 each for nose bleed. F that.

I have a high end audio system at home. I'd rather just crack a beer, turn on my speakers, and listen to good music.

I’m actually not sure this is true all of the time.

All of those artists listed are on the backend of their popularity so that could also be a factor

Cudi, Trainor, and Pussycat Dolls are not big names and I’m not surprised they can’t sell tickets.

Post Malone isn’t big enough for stadium tours, obviously. Should have stuck with amphitheaters.

I don’t blame costs and Ticketmaster. I blame the poor performers who nobody wants to see.

The gig is literally up. Either play music for your fans and make a little money or cancel and your brand a land career die with your greed. Your choice overinflated ego musicians who think their opinion is somehow more important than the common man.

The blame falls on the venues, ticket master/Live Nation. They’re the ones fricking the fans.

I remember sipping on a bottle of Boone's Farm and waiting for The Warehouse ticket window to open so I could pay six bucks to see Yes and Jethro Tull on the same bill.

Similar, I remember paying $7.50 to see Foreigner and Cheap Trick. It was a “Beaver Production”.
