Yes, for the last 25 years or so.

not trying to fill Tiger Stadium.
This is also an issue with artists thinking they are bigger than they really are.

Going to see Dave Matthews in July, mostly filled up. Lawn seats $69, medium range tickets with seats $105. Price accordingly and people will come.

I'm waiting until they make a Taylor Swift Holograph Projection Concert to see her because I think once it's done like that ticket prices might be reasonable.
I am waiting on the Brittney Spears comeback concert series special.

Btw, this is the same reason the Savannah Banana bull crap is so expensive and outrageous.
Savannah Bananas are one of the most affordable options out there if you are able to get tickets through them.
For the game in the Superdome, tickets were either $40 or $60 depending on the area in the Dome you wanted to sit.
I’d gladly pay those prices for concerts.

That’s what happens when you charge $700 for tickets in the cheap seats..

Maybe if they played The Sphere ticket sales would be better.

The music sucks.

quote:this is where we are now. We used to go to many concerts a year but refuse to over pay on secondary market or regular crazy prices for nosebleed.
Jimmy Buffet as an example, tried for tickets at two different shows a year or so apart, each one sold out in less than two minutes.
But you could then go on Ticketmaster and buy grossly inflated tickets. I passed.
We still visit local small venues but now we do it a lot more than before.

Dang. I honestly didn’t think those guys [Styx] were still alive.
Saw em in January in Vegas. They killed. Tommy Shaw is as good as ever and Todd Suchermann is one of the best drummers in the business—an “S” Tier drummer, if you will. Lawrence Gowan is good as lead singer (but not Dennis DeYoung). Was a great show. $125 at The Venetian. That’s a downright bargain for Vegas.

Fans have long complained about the rising cost of concert tickets, and they aren't wrong.
According to Pollstar, the live music industry trade publication, average primary-market ticket prices jumped from $96.17 to $135.92 between 2019 and 2024.
In 2013, I paid $166.00 total for 2 floor seats in Section A, Row 15 in the Smoothie King Center to see John Mayer.
I just checked upcoming shows in Smoothie King Center for comparison to see how much ticket prices have increased and to have similar seats for an upcoming Bryan Adams concert at the Smoothie King Center, it would be $382 total for 2 floor seats, Section A, Row 14, a 130% increase in price.

We have access to a Suite at the Brookshire Grocery Arena, which allows us to see several acts that I would have never paid to see, like Heart.
Styx is coming in a couple of weeks, and the tickets were $90 each…sales were struggling, so they ran a BOGO. 2 for $90 isn’t so bad.
Most of the shows we go to see here are at Credit One Stadium, which is a tennis stadium that seats about 11,000, so there's not a bad seat in the place. We usually buy right around the cheapest tickets and it's about $70, so not too bad especially considering the level of acts we've seen. It's also a very uppity area of town so they only allow for certain types of artists. We've seen Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews, Mumford, Keith Urban, Old Dominion, and a bunch of others for that price. Zac Brown w/ Brothers Osbourne coming this fall, among others we've already got tickets for.
It's a great setting and vibe.
