Multiple musical artists cancelling summer tour dates because ticket sales are so bad

Being coined "blue dot fever" due to all the blue dots (empty seats) shown on Ticketmaster maps. Supply far exceeding demand for many artists.

Ticketmaster charging fees that are damn near the cost of the ticket itself is one of the world's greatest scams.

Blue dot fever hit Kid Cudi, as he canceled his Birmingham, Alabama show on May 5, telling fans that ticket sales "just weren't strong enough."
The Pussycat Dolls also hinted that low ticket sales were why they pulled the plug on all but one date on the North American leg of their reunion tour.
Post Malone was due to kick off his Big arse Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll on May 13, but he has now canceled six dates, including El Paso, Waco, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Tampa, and Oxford, and will now begin the tour on June 13.
Meghan Trainor canceled her entire The Get In Girl Tour in mid-April, citing the release of her album, Toy with Me, and the arrival of her third child with husband Daryl Sabara.
While her reasons are completely valid, reports claimed that sales for the tour were lower than anticipated, with resale listings reportedly falling as low as $10 before the tour was scrapped.

Fans have long complained about the rising cost of concert tickets, and they aren't wrong.
According to Pollstar, the live music industry trade publication, average primary-market ticket prices jumped from $96.17 to $135.92 between 2019 and 2024.

Malone did it bc of rehab…I mean he’s working on his music.

The gig is literally up. Either play music for your fans and make a little money or cancel and your brand and career die with your greed. Your choice overinflated ego musicians who think their opinion is somehow more important than the common man.

The music is shite, and the tickets are too expensive, that's why.

$135 to watch someone lip synch a song? GTFO

It just isnt worth it for all but a handful of performers IMO.

Fix the scalper/bot market issue and I'm in. Those things add enough friction that I won't make an attempt unless I really love the artist.

Go woke go broke. That’s why Lee Greenwood and Kid Rock are crushing it.

The stadium and arena concert scene is dying anyways as the 60s and 70s acts stop touring and/or die.

I'm waiting until they make a Taylor Swift Holograph Projection Concert to see her because I think once it's done like that ticket prices might be reasonable.

Now do non-shite artists.

The artists have been partners with Ticketmaster as they raked in the dollars in collusion with TM’s fees and internal scalping.
People are fed up. Also, didn’t help when the CEO said he thinks concert tickets are actually underpriced.

I think its the same as sports...
Whats better: spending $300 to watch a great concert from the nosebleeds where you're basically watching the jumbotron, or watching from your couch on a 72" TV?

That and he's playing at Lamar Dixon; not trying to fill Tiger Stadium.

With what a lot of tickets were bringing on the secondary market he is right. He just has no leg to stand on because his shitty company is fricking everyone with all the fees.
For most shows of interest the secondary market has proven that tickets are underpriced. If that weren't true there wouldn't be scalpers lining up for every popular event and people willing to pay them on the secondary market. Maybe we've reached a breaking point in that regard.

I feel like the bubble is finally bursting.
The days of not only charging a shite ton for the tickets but then tacking on bullshite fees are ending.
It seems as though the days of old are coming back.
Unless you’re Morgan Wallen, nobody is paying these prices.
I wish we could go back to the days of going to a Ticketmaster counter at a CD store and buying an actual ticket for less than $100.
