My wife doesn’t work but she takes care of the house which is a pretty big job. Cooks, cleans, bills, all other house related items that come up. Makes everyones life easier. I make $400k+ a year so we don’t really need to have her work and stress out about the everyday stuff.

but no regrets, none whatsoever.

not having to wake up and get the kids out of the house or pick them up from daycare on the way home is a really nice perk.

though with school starting next year, that will change

My wife works. But, she works at a high end salon in Baton Rouge, and only works about 22 hours a week and has a lot of freedom with her schedule. So, she is still able to do a lot of the stuff a stay at home mom can do, and takes care of getting the kids(2, ages 14 and 11) everywhere they need to go. Plus, she makes over $100k a year, so it would be stupid for her not to work.

Checking in. No, my choice would be to not have my kids in daycare or public school.

45 years ago this month my wife's doctor told her she was pregnant with our first child. She gave her 2-week notice the day she knew and we were a single income family from that day forward.

Our kids had a mom to see them off to school and be there when they got home - and she got to go on field trips as a chaperone and be with them during spring and summer break, if they were sick, on holidays, snow days, etc. And after school, their friends would come to our home for a snack and had adult supervision.

Our kids turned out great - successful adults now, never in real trouble - best decision for our family.

I was planning on going fishing on the boat today but didn't wake up in time. So I'm getting ready to light up a j and enjoy the nice weather.

I'll smoke a bowl at work, so that's no bid deal for me...

I am 51 right now. I can retire at 56 full retirement. My wife will continue to do her accounting thing.

I plan on having many days like you are having soon. The idea of having no work life makes me sort of uneasy though.

we got a kid in daycare. Seems alright. She is good around other kids.

not ideal I guess but I was raised with two white collar working parents. Never crossed my mind to have a stay at home wife

Daycare has its upsides. You don't want to raise a hermit. There's an abundance of activities available in most suburban and urban areas for kids to be involved in from a very young age for stay at home mothers. Of course they all cost money.

Those young families out there that have a single blue collar mid 5 figure income have my utmost respect. They're better people than I am.

married 15 years, 3 boys 12/11/8, both of us are conservative...both work. She has always worked and now owns her own business. I have always worked. we have joint accounts and its all our money.

if she is truely committed to the family....the things you are worried about dont matter. If she starts with the...your money is my money, my money is my money....run.

Conservative. Dual income until June.

I retire. Single income, wife works for another 4-5 years (yes, she's alot younger than I, but still no pics).

Will still be conservative. Congrats on the stereotyping.

We were single income while my wife home schooled our kids. My youngest is now in college and the wife has begun looking for work. However, having a 20 year hole in your resume is not helping.

I imagine with the current cost of daycare if you have multiple children it may be cheaper for your wife to stay home for childcare purposes. Or at least pull a part-time gig.

all depends on what kind of career she has. For us, we are both high income earners, so wouldnt make a lot of sense. We pay for catholic school now and no different than day care was. About 25k all in for the 3 kids. Aint too bad.

My wife stayed home with our third child for about 2 years. It was time that I know my kids really appreciated over the summers and school breaks.

The economy just made it unsustainable, wife went back to work late 2023, we're still playing catch up.

Worth the economic “hit”, although we are doing just fine.

This. We cut back on some things others splurged on, but no regrets, none whatsoever.

THIS x 100....married life for nearly 30 years and spouse has never worked outside the home.....kids all homeschooled and two now in college. Haven't had to reprogram them from getting woke leftist indoctrination from government school system. It's all a matter of priorities....your kids, or the latest and greatest vehicles, toys, trips, etc.
