LSU Frat Bros- what happened to Lambda Chi

The LSU chapter was officially closed on October 22, 2017 after a vote by the fraternity’s national Board of Directors, which deemed the chapter “unsafe” and not conducive to a healthy environment or personal development.
The decision was based on a pattern of hazing and misconduct rather than a single incident. LSU had already placed the chapter on probation for hazing through May 2019, following serious allegations in 2016 that included:

Withholding food and medication from new members

Forcing members to sleep in the fraternity house and wake them early for “vision exercises”

Two medical emergencies during initiation week

One kid during initiation week had a seizure towards the end because he was all drugged up on adderall and xanax the whole week. As someone else said, another kid that needed his meds just didn’t tell anyone that he needed them. Just stupid pledges were the undoing of Lambda Chi

Different fraternity at LSU, but our hell week was pretty much that. We were allowed exactly one hour of sleep per night for 5 nights and no sleep the last night. YesWe were constantly made to memorize all kinds of intormation about the fraternity and other subjects. We all (50 or so) had to sleep in the dining room in sleeping bags (if we could get one). We were woken from our one hour of sleep by members banging on pots and pans. But we were never deprived of food or other necessities. Was hell, but wouldn't trade it for anything.

I’d imagine it would just be a slap on the wrist after they built that huge new house in the last 10 years.

Sigma Chi, Lamda Chi, Acacia, and Dke (among some other new row fraternities) were all booted around 2015-2018.

Greek Life director had a real hard on for the older fraternities. Not to say drugs and alcohol didn't play a big part, but it was as if all of the rules started to get enforced for the first time out of nowhere.

There was also a scandal where one of the greek life office employees at LSU was creating fake profiles on the LSU rush website in order to try and "catch" fraternities breaking rules. It was a bizarre time for greek life.
