If I'm reading the recon data correctly, its giving 121kt (139mph) wind at surface. Stay safe everyone.
This is not good because it still has 6-7 hours in favorable strengthening waters

I hope not

As expected... driving is hard. Especially when it's drizzling outside with moderate winds

Well, she only needs 17mph more in her sustained winds to be a Cat. 5.
And still almost 300 miles offshore with plenty of warm water and heat.
This is reminding me of Hurricane Michael, how it jumped like 3 categories in the matter of 24 hours and leveled Mexico Beach as a Cat5.

I'm west of Gilmer. It will just be wet and windy. Might I suggest sushi at Kawa's?

yea winds will likely be way stronger.
my prediction would be somewhere in the 70-80 range sustained with gusts up to 90+

Seems it has jogged east overnight.
It has always “looked” further East than they predicted. It now “looks” like it is heading to the NW

Know some people in Nederland. I'm hoping they all left.

They'll prob reassess Laura in a few years and looking at the damage is does and retroactively categorize it as a 5

No shite. Especially after Harvey - didn't they get over 60"?

That seems slightly juiced. 60 sustained gusts to 75.

Yeah my parents in Abbeville are just now loading up the truck and heading to Nola
After a day of insisting they'd be ok riding it out
yeah so they lied to my siblings
They're riding it out.
After enough poking and prodding, they're finally on their way to Nola.
I am hopeful that the best Popeyes in the world in Abbeville survives this
