Not ideal to be sure, but that seems like hyperbole.

From the NHC advisory:

"Unsurvivable storm surge with large and destructive waves will cause catastrophic damage from Sea Rim State Park, Texas, to Intracoastal City, Louisiana, including Calcasieu and Sabine Lakes. This storm surge could penetrate up to 30 miles inland."

For reference, Katrina and Camille had surges measured at 24-25'.

I wonder if Holly Beach and Cameron will rebuild again after this. After getting smashed by Rita, Ike, and now Laura in 15 years it’s hard to have to rebuild everything so often. There’s a nice new school and library in Cameron.

Is there a levee system around the chemical plants and refineries on Sabine Lake in Port Arthur? How high do they protect if so? What about that Dupont facility on Sabine River near Orange?

There was a lot of elevating of homes done and finished up in the last several years. We’ll test our work now...

I know I keep posting a lot of satellite images, and I’m not pulling for this thing to be strong, but these satellite images are just mesmerizing to look at.

I wish they'd give context to these statements. People unfamiliar with 'canes will think there's 20' of water covering 30 miles inland
