Lol at buying that monstrous house on the lake, which is literally 10 feet from the next monstrous house. If I can buy a $3.6 million house, I'm not dealing with fricking neighbors. (Or storm surge for that matter)

Is there a levee system around the chemical plants and refineries on Sabine Lake in Port Arthur?
I was wondering about the same thing for LC. There are a bunch of plants that run down the shipping channel. I fish there all the time and have never really noticed any type of levee.

I think what happens is the surge fills up the lakes which in turn spill over into the small tributaries in LC causing flooding. I don’t think they mean every piece of land within 30 miles will be inundated.

I’m going to be sick to my fricking stomach....

I vividly remember how I felt the same way right before Katrina living in the NOLA metro area. I thought, this is the one they've talked about my entire life and we'll be wiped off the face of the planet.

know I keep posting a lot of satellite images, and I’m not pulling for this thing to be strong, but these satellite images are just mesmerizing to look at.

Same here. I evacuated thinking my house would be damaged or gone. I got very, very lucky. I thank my lucky stars to this day for having an intact house after that. I get stressed every time there is something brewing in the Gulf.

Katrina was recorded at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis at 32'. Remember it was an upper category 5 and built up a shite ton of water that shoaled in the shallow MS sound.

Thoughts and prayers to all of you that will have any kind of impact from Laura. I remember watching Katrina rolling in and thinking New Orleans was going to be destroyed forever, being concerned for my family and friends, and thinking things were never going to be the same. I hate that we're watching this all over again for another part of our state.

God bless you all and stay safe.

If there's anything I can help you with, then please let me know and I will do my best to help you in any way I can.

The official hurricane theme, IMO. When someone started that hurricane song thread yesterday, this song is exactly what I posted.
