I cant imagine what a 20' storm surge would do to that area...just wow!
I was watching the weather channel earlier and they were showing storm surge flooding on Prien Lake Road which is a major commercial corridor with a big mall. Can't imagine that. Hope it was just TWC fear mongering and not legit because that would be catastrophic.

I live about 400 ft from the Lake and there is a gulley in the backside of my hood that flooded badly during Rita from all the debris piling up in it. Not good
Damn dude. I hope you’ve gotten TFO. Don’t die, I can’t be the only cynical bastard here.

had a townhouse in that area at the time that didn't flood but we had lots of wind damage and rain damage inside after the roof was peeled off.

Currently chilling in a hotel in Ruston

They have no rooms left, for tonight, people have been coming in all morning
Talked to 3 or 4 families, all evacuating

I just remembered all of the plants right by the water. Is there a levee system for those?
No idea. I just remember the flooding around the civic center from the surge and the casino boat that broke loose. Then later getting MREs in the civic center parking lot.

I don’t think looting will be an issue in lake Charles. It’s still got that small town feel.

Speaking of the lake...someone just bought this house for $3.6 million. Wonder how they feel about that investment right now.

As bad as Rita was, in terms of surge only, Ike was worse in LC. There were many areas that flooded for Ike that didn’t flood for Rita. It caught a lot of people by surprise. Hardly no one left and they got up in the morning with electricity since the weather didn’t get that bad and water in the house.

I was just thinking, there won’t be a hotel room available in Lake Charles for months. Maybe not even Lafayette
