That’s fricking stupid. Another case of putting people in a more dangerous situation to protect them from something that isn’t that dangerous

Check the 4am cone. Laura has ridden the top line of that cone all day. Red dot is current position.
I agree with your line of thinking and that pic really illustrates what a lot of people have been trying to say, it's following the eastern edge of the cone right now and still within the advisory track. Don't know why that's so crazy or "wishcasting."
People are just shooting the messenger because they don't want it to track any further east from the state line area, and I can agree with that. As long as you don't phrase it as a prediction or a certainty I don't see how anyone could have a problem, though.
Just a tense time I guess.

When the actual storm is north of the NHC track
Everyone keeps mentioning where it is now in reference the path of the 4am update, is that not taken into account when they updated their path at 10am & 4pm?

Duke- you bring up a good point. It seems like this is a race to see if the storm goes north vs the Bermuda high pushes west. Where can I become informed about the ridge itself? I can see the track of the storm but is there a way to compare the current ridge to prior model projections to confirm it is moving as intended?
For the record I am concerned about the wobble/north movement as I have a kid at UL who is staying and a camp near Morgan City. Any East movement or the perception of such gets the pucker factor going.

Levi says that while it appears to be trending north this is just reorganization and westward shift more likely than east if anything

Kid's not gonna die, but that could be an uncomfortable few days with no power. Does he have any friends closer to campus he can stay with?

ndg over at Stormcast produced this. Credit where it's due. These are from the upper air balloons launched from Slidell. Look at the circled area and how that number increases with time.
Those are the height rises we're talking about with the building ridge.

If my kid were at a camp in Morgan city, I'd tell him to leave.
