Agreed, neither Russia nor Belarus want what Poland would give them if they FAFO. It wouldn't even have to include NATO. Poland + Ukraine would wreck Russia. Belarus would just be a speed bump.

There is no way Russia is going to provoke that fight, they may posture a bit but in the end, Russia won't do anything really provocative.

Key Takeaways:

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) accused Ukraine of attempting to attack two Black Sea Fleet patrol boats with unmanned semi-submersibles on August 1.

Likely Ukrainian actors conducted another drone strike on Moscow City in the early hours of August 1.

The Russian MoD continues to posture Russian Chief of the General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov as an effective and involved overall theater commander in Ukraine.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko may have signaled his intent to use the Wagner Group to create a foundation for an unspecified Belarusian “contract army.”

Two Belarusian helicopters reportedly violated Polish airspace on August 1.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations on at least three sectors of the front and reportedly advanced near Bakhmut on August 1.

Russian companies not under Western sanctions continue to recruit volunteers to fight in the war in Ukraine.

Iran is pursuing the construction of drone factories in Belarus and Russia, which will help Russia acquire Iranian drones more readily and provide Iran with numerous economic and military benefits.

Russian forces conducted offensive operations along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, on the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, in the Donetsk-Zaporizhia Oblast border area, and in western Zaporizhia Oblast on August 1 and made advances in certain areas.

Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations on at least three sectors of the front on August 1 and advanced near Kreminna and Bakhmut.

The Russian Cabinet of Ministers granted Russian volunteer fighters and Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic (DNR and LNR) militia fighters (opolcheniye) veteran status on August 1.

Russian occupation authorities continue to deport children from occupied regions of Ukraine to Russia under the guise of education and rehabilitation programs.

Briefly crossing their border with helicopters then quickly getting back across is the most they will do. Any other belief is just comical.

A little over a year ago people were saying it was ridiculous to believe Russia would invade Ukraine again and yet...

These are crazy numbers if true but I'll take them with a grain of salt since they are coming from a Russian military expert.

The catastrophic losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are announced: on average, 400 obituaries of Ukrainian soldiers are published per day

"A lot of soldiers die in Ukraine. On average, about 400 obituaries a day. November last year was the peak. About 1,100 obituaries for soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were published there in one day. In total, I counted 284,000 dead," the military expert said. Ruslan Tatarinov.

The expert obtained these data from obituaries published in the Ukrainian media and social networks: "It was enough to combine these sources. Everything is clearly visible at once."

Art. 5 makes it very unlikely Russia would attack ANY NATO country.
Even without Art. 5, Russia doesn’t want to start a war with Poland, which is very capable and highly motivated.
And Moscow can I’ll afford opening a second front, with it’s hands full in Ukraine.

Interesting, have you found any corroborating sources on this info?

He can't be the only one with the info.

Another thought is that there is a ratio for KIA vs WIA in war, I don't remember it, that says for every 1 KIA there is a typical number of WIA's (2, 3, 4, etc) times. So if the value of 284K KIA is real, then the number of WIA's would be at least twice that at 568K for a combined total of 852K casualties suffered by Ukraine.

That is a really high number that hasn't had any visibility in any of the multitude of commentary on the war.

It’s entirely unbelievable.

It would mean UA threw in over a million men to fight Russias like 400k.

The Polish army is not a pushover force. They are professional, extremely well equipped and most of all they fricking hate Russians. Who more than the Poles can honestly anyone say they have more of a disdain for Russians than them?

Wow, if factual what does that say about Russia?

Their winter offense was repulsed and they have been stalemated by a smaller country who is losing four or five soldiers to every one Russian.

I understand that it seems very unlikely but I don't think we can assume that Putin is a rational actor either.

More Russia sabre rattling, which usually means they are not happy with recent developments…

Using nukes would be the end for Putin. Russia may be better off by threatening to kidnap Ukrainian children or by threatening to murder civilians that are riding bikes in the streets…

What you call full retard appears to just be this guys baseline. This is the same idiot that continuously falls for every shitty troll his boys from the poli board post but we're expected to take his wack job opinions on global politics seriously?

You will probably need this if you want to take it as anywhere near factual.

Another repurposed Spriter account after previous one(s) got burned, unrelated image used in post from before war (one of the reasons their old account(s) got closed btw), plus wild and unsupported claims by an "expert" whose maths is off by about 75,000 based on their own claimed average.

I will not claim Ukraine hasn't lost a significant number of people in this war, because they have, but that source is pure trash.

Edit: Clarity

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 02 August 2023

Over the last two months, Russia has likely started forming up major new formations to add depth to its ground forces. These include the 25th Combined Arms Army.

Since its invasion of Ukraine, Russia has mainly deployed mobilised reservists to backfill established formations, or as part of territorial defence infantry regiments: it has rarely established new, all-arms organisations such as combined arms armies which are designed to be a self-sufficient force. An exception to this was the 3rd Army Corps created in summer 2022, which has generally performed poorly.

Russia will likely deploy any new formation as a reserve force in Ukraine. However, in the longer term, Russia aspires to strengthen its forces facing NATO. Without a major new wave of mandatory mobilisation, Russia is unlikely to find enough new troops to resource even one new army.

Maybe so but the idea seems logical. I would sure like to get a semi-accurate KIA number for both sides.
