Yeah definitely no Panamax size ships or anything close to it getting in that port. The most it can be used for is smaller ships to offload to larger ones in the Black Sea. I wouldn’t trust the Russians anyway about it being completely de-mined.

Don't know. It's just very odd that Belarus is issuing conscription notices AND introduces visa-free entry for Polish citizens the same day. Could be nothing, could be something. It's just weird.
Yeah there’s something weird here, particularly the Polish element. Week or two again they were saying they would defend Ukraine from Poland and then had some of their guys caught digging under the Polish border.

That’s a nice looking piece of equipment they manufactured but I wonder how many of them they can make and how long it takes. They would be better suited to making their own 155 mm shells that can be used with all the 155 mm weapons the west has sent. That would take a big load off of us, Britain and the rest of the countries contributing equipment and ammo if they can take some of the burden off using our own ammunition stocks.

Everyone that down voted and doesn't believe American's needs should come first how about posting all the checks that you have personally cut and sent to Ukraine. Shows us what your commitment has been besides your mouth.
F Ukraine and F Russia

I think a lot of my taxes I pay into the treasury are going to Ukraine. I'm doing my part.

This is not a default. In case of default, the payer has no money, but Russia has it and is ready to pay. the fact that they are trying to shut off the air to her "outside" does not mean that she is insolvent. It's just that the US has closed all the possibilities for creditors to withdraw their money in foreign currency. We can pay in rubles. By the way, today the ruble is growing very well in price. I have a 15-20% price cut in my supermarket. I recommend rubles for purchase
It is a default by definition. Defaults happen all the time despite countries or companies being physically able to pay the interest based on their cash reserves. Is it a technicality? Yeah, but it’s a default.

and NATO receives threats from Turkey to withdraw from NATO. It's a good exchange in my opinion. The strongest army in the east wants to leave NATO, and two weak countries enter, which the bloc needs to protect.
1. Turkey didn’t threaten NATO, they just weren’t going to support Finland and Sweden. They were just grandstanding for something in return.
2. Not only did they not actually leave, they are getting upgraded F16s securing NATOs southeastern flank from Russia.
3. Lol at Finland and Sweden being “weaker”

This is the stock market dude. There are both ups and downs. Do you want to compare with the American exchanges?
American companies announcing reduction or halting of dividend for future quarters, not refuse to pay existing agreed payments.

No you're not. That tax money is America's and should be used on Americans FIRST. If you want to money to go to the war effort write a check out of your personal account. American tax dollars for America First!

The counterpoint to that is a lot of people see the ROI to the US as actually pretty high. A more Reaganesque POV. In my opinion, a Reagan approach to geopolitics is even more important now given the world is effectively shrinking. I see it more as a long term play but respect the opinion of people more concerned about the short term play. The truth is, like everything without a control, even in hindsight we never know which choices are correct even though many think they can.

Bull Hockey. Nobody in DC will ever follow that line of reasoning. They never have.

I lived in Russia & CIS countries, for 9 years. Russia is a bully who used their military "might" and the threat of nuclear weapons to keep old KGB dictators in charge.
Russians started a civil war in Ukraine when Putin's bitch got kicked out of Ukraine. He accepted a bribe from Putin and didn't follow his countries wish to have EU ties. This shite has been ongoing since 2013/14. Russians claim it is ethic Russian and historical Russia, but they don't want to admit the genocide they did on the Tartars and non-Slavic people there in Crimea.
Most all CIS people I worked with hate Putin and his dictatorial bitches running CIS countries.
Putin is a narcissistic psychopath who is corrupt, and his sheep follow him to slaughter. Be a man, grab a gun and go kill those scary NAZI's if you really feel there are NAZI's in Ukraine.

Putin Should Be Very Worried About Ukraine’s New Kamikaze Drone
The war in Ukraine is no stranger to drones, but the kamikaze drone strike on the Russian city of Rostov last week marked the beginning of a whole chapter in drone warfare. A small ramshackle Ukrainian drone with a tiny warhead flew across the heavily defended front line and smashed into an oil refinery in Russia on June 22, causing a large fire. Given how cheap it is to make a drone, and its successful evasion of Russian air defenses, Russian officials might soon have to worry about defending oil facilities, supply depots, and military installations deep in Russian territory.
Long-range kamikaze drones are a new threat to Russia. Most observers of the conflict in Ukraine are familiar with the Switchblade drones provided by the U.S., but these have a relatively short range and require operators to direct it onto a target. Kamikaze drones like the one used in the Rostov attack can go hundreds of miles without the need for an operator, and are small enough to slip by much of Russia’s air defense, which is designed to detect and engage fighter jets and missiles. With the use of GPS and inertial guidance systems, a Ukrainian operator would simply need to give the drone a point on the map before sending it on its way.
For Russia, the biggest concern is that Ukraine can make these cheaply and easily. Press reports claim the drone used in the Rostov attack was produced by Ukraine or a was model available on the internet for less than $10,000.

Transcarpathia voted for autonomy in 1991, and Crimea voted for independence in 1994. These are not new issues. If you look at election maps, the country had a strong east west split since independence.
The fracture points were always there. The Westerners broke the country in their effort to achieve total control.

From the Yahoo link above....
Ukraine would not be the first actor to use Kamikaze drones to coerce stronger power. In Yemen, the Iran-supported Houthis have been successfully using similar types of drones for years. Saudi Arabia and the UAE field more sophisticated air defense systems than Russia to cover a smaller front, but it doesn’t seem to be enough. In 2019, a single attack on Saudi oil processing facilities by Kamikaze drones halved Saudi oil production overnight. The Houthis even tried to ram a Patriot radar on one occasion, which would have blinded the entire battery. The attacks are such a concern for the Gulf states that limiting the use of drones is reportedly a major point of contention in ongoing peace talks between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
