My father lived his life entirely on his own terms, but at the end, that freedom was deliberately stripped away from him by the one person who was supposed to care for him.

Instead of being surrounded by all of his children and the people who truly loved him, he was kept isolated. And what happened at his memorial service wasn't just a disgrace to his legacy it was sickening.

A funeral is supposed to be a time to honor a man’s life. Instead, Attendees were forced to sit through her singing songs she allegedly wrote, shifting the spotlight entirely onto herself rather than honoring the man we were there to mourn we watched his widow drink two bottles of wine and turn the entire service into her own self-centered spectacle.

She acted the exact same way she did for years on stage desperately trying to steal his spotlight.

But doing it at his funeral was a new low.

In the middle of the service, in front of the entire room, she actually stood over his cold body and stripped him of all his jewelry.

My father's own children and his band and all who were his actual family on the road for years were treated like they were just random fans off the street.

The people who did speak weren't allowed to share genuine memories; they were handed scripted speeches dictating exactly what they were allowed to say.

It’s no wonder that none of his celebrity friends or peers even showed up to honor him. They likely knew exactly what kind of circus this was going to be.

To make matters worse, the venue was treated like a concert merchandise booth. She was actively selling memorial shirts right there at the funeral, sales that literally held up my father's funeral procession for 45 minutes just to squeeze a few more dollars out of the crowd.

My father deserved a farewell worthy of the authentic, unfiltered life he lived.

He deserved to have all his children around him in his final days, and he deserved to be laid to rest with respect.

His real legacy lives on in his music and in his blood, not in the heavily scripted, disgraceful cash grab that was put on in his name.
