If I’m ordering at a counter I don’t tip. If they are going to deliver my food to my table, maybe a dollar. Sit down restaurant 15-20%. Delivery 15-20% depending if there is already a delivery fee.

The ADULTS working the snack stand at my sons football game had a tip jar.

The cart girls at the country club get a tip, some may get more than just the tip.<--that's not true

This gets on my nerves too. You give them a dollar, I give them a dollar etc. Then the CEO of the company gets his picture taken with an oversize check donating to X charity. It's not from the company, it's from the customers! I don't mind donating to worthy causes, but I don't like the big corporations acting like they are the ones doing the giving.

Well, if they did that, the price of food and drinks would go up as well, so customers would still be paying the employees.

Cool! I would always prefer that an industry's price reflect what it takes to properly compensate workers for their labor.

How about automatically included gratuity set at 15%? I've been to two different restaurants lately that automatically included gratuity, and it was only 2 of us in our party.
Now, I tip well, when it is deserved. One of those waitresses earned nowhere near 15% as a base tip. She was at best terrible, at worst she was useless. Yet, I had to tip 15% with an option to add more for a tip. Nonsense. She was not good at her job and did not earn such a tip.

Automatic gratuity for a party of two? What is this Walk-On's during Essence Fest?

That auto gratuity gives her zero incentive to step her game up.

I will not visit such places.

seems like every time you start with the tip, it always leads to more. Next thing you know you're broke.

Maybe abstinence from tipping is best

I tip everywhere I go. I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with a church telling people they need to give them 10% of their salary.

I’m pretty sure that stuff is built into the software for the new registers.

and yet when a cashier sucks or a mechanic is awful you never think twice about the fact that they get paid the same amount of money hour after hour regardless of their behavior. the system is fricked.

Just had the janitor in the bathroom of the Atlanta airport asking for tips for handing out paper towels like it was a strip club. First time I saw that.

I'm doing doordash while I go back to school right now, and a lot of people don't tip.

Doesn't bother me, though. If you don't tip I just won't take your order. If you live more than 5 miles away from the restaurant you're ordering from you best leave a big arse tip or it's:

1. Going to take forever because it will keep getting declined. Food will likely be cold by the time it gets to you.

2. Won't get picked up at all.

That being said, I don't care if someone doesn't tip. I tip waiters, bartenders, and delivery personnel. But that's my preference.

fine dining establishment in the front unless they were paying $25-30 an hour,

A waitress at the chimes clears twice that .

A server at Rouj in BR makes roughly 100 an hour.

Hell as a bartender in a local bar in college I'd make 500-1000 per night on a weekend.
