Seems like everyone go, when you pay with credit card, always ask to tip (lit pizza, izzos, they all use same program where it defaults to 15% tip). I mean, those kids get paid an hour rate, i get they want a tip but default to 15% of order to hand me a buffito? Anyone else seeing this

Yeah it’s obnoxious. Feel like all cashiers asking to donate to x-charity as well.

Yes it’s ridiculous

We got tip jars set out at drive thru windows. Got tips expected for carry out orders too.

I tip fir carry out in places where the staff if the same. And if I pick up lunch around Christmas, I'll tip a 20 or a 50.

Otherwise, you get $1

Now in a restaurant, 18-20% plus 5 additional bucks per bottle of wine if I never have to poor it myself

Yes,it is out of hand. Entitlement generation with the hand out. I rarely tip anywhere short of decent café/restaurant that I was sitting and being served and valet at the casino. Sonic can kiss my arse that is a dang fast food joint bottom line.

Maybe the base salaries would be higher if restaurants didn't accept welfare in the form of customers directly paying their employees

Why is the default tip going from 15 to 18 to 20% nowadays when the price of food has gone up too.

As food prices increased, tips should have gone up too.

The extra percentages are double dipping on the consumers.

Because CC companies will always get a cut of tips added to CC payments

all those $1's add up though, and they get to donate your money and write it off as a charitable donation.
McDonalds is the worst, they ask for donations to their own charity, donate them, write it off, and then write the charity off too. its shady af disguised as a goodwill gesture.

Well, if they did that, the price of food and drinks would go up as well, so customers would still be paying the employees.

Folks at shittier restaurants would probably benefit from a higher base wage, but no one would work at a fine dining establishment in the front unless they were paying $25-30 an hour, which is about what they make (if not more).
