If you’re tipped before performing a service, where is the incentive to give any extra effort? And if you went above and beyond, where is the reward? Because I’ve already tipped.

A lot of those people are probably going to tip when their order arrives - it is pretty standard for delivery food

Or at least they would if the food showed up hot and in a timely manner. He says take it up with Doordash but there's a reason I don't use shite delivery apps in the first place.

Yep totally messed up system, not how it works at all.

Actually, that is how it works now. Whether you agree with it or not is a different subject. If you don't like it, use a different delivery service or get off your couch and get the food yourself.

You seem very upset that the transaction isn't set up in the way you like and it comes off as entitled. Order from postmates. They don't do the tip until after.

Ya I've done Uber Eats one or two times but only when too drunk to drive.

I'd like to note that when i do the rare publix delivery to my house, I do not tip beforehand.

If that driver gets me my shite in a fair time and correctly then I GO BACK and add the tip into the order.

Because the whole point is to make the god damn driver perform and step their game up.

You step up and get me my shite, I'll tip you.

You show up much later and with the incorrect order, sorry then.

I do! The Waitr app is just a fancy menu for me now.

Will do, thanks for the tip!

with doordash only

You obviously just work in a very hi-demand area where you can afford to make decisions like you are doing

This isn't the case with all platforms and in all cities/burbs/areas.

The incentive is that you've been "bribed" to give one customer more attention than the other. The bribing aspect of tipping is how tipping started in the first place.

I feel like the cash tips at the door would be preferred as opposed to tips routed through the app

I don’t use delivery apps anymore because they all suck, now, but when I did, I would give them cash after they made the delivery. Then the service went to shite, and I stopped tipping all together. Then they went into despair, and I stopped using their service.

I completely understand this. I hear it's bad in some areas with people sitting around for 20-30 minutes with no orders. But it's not that way in Boise. I make more money than I would doing unskilled labor anywhere else, and I'm going to take advantage of that while I can.

People post on the Doordash forum complaining all the time about an oversaturated market and I reply by asking them why are they wasting their time? When the time comes that Doordash is no longer viable for me I'll go do something that makes more sense.

What I really like about the tipping policy at these places is that is it my choice to tip or not. If I don’t want to tip, I don’t.

All of this. Except I do still use Waitr to see the menu and have the restaurant phone number to place an easy takeout order.

The last straw was when I placed an order with Waitr and they told me it'd be an hour wait, this wasn't after an LSU game or anything. Canceled that and picked it up myself, was home within twenty minutes.

I think you finally might be getting the hint.

You want food delivery from popular fast food restaurants? There's a catch. There's always a catch.

Yeah no shite buddy the catch is supposed to be paying delivery fee and a driver's tip, not waiting twice the amount you would for picking it up yourself

A place I go to a lot for lunch recently changed their system and now the receipts print out a tip line. Before it just swiped and I got a receipt and that was it. Not there's a tip line, total, and a signature line. I know they did it on purpose because of people like me that don't want to feel cheap for not tipping. It's Blimpie but I go there so much I feel I should … I give $1 or $2.. whatever. It's not that hard of a social experiment to figure out.
